You need to have your CMOS battery replaced. This is not the same as your laptop battery. If this is in warranty then you can call dell for help. if this unit is not in warranty then you can find a service manual and take a stab at replacing the battery but the best thing is to take it to a computer repair shop and have them replace the battery for you.

When you say it fades are you being literal? In the digital world things usually change suddenly or stop altogether.

I'd look at the receiver for an indicator that indicates the multichannel nature of your incoming digital audio. Many have little maps or icons showing the number of speakers supported at any given time. That's a function of the incoming data stream and/or whatever the audio source it carries. For example, when loading a DVD I usually see 2.1 indicated on my unit while the low-tech menus and previews are active. Once the multichannel program commences the 5.1 indication lights up.

It almost sounds like the digital bitstream is being corrupted and the receiver shifts down to whatever it can manage to decode from it. Check the cabling that carries the audio. If it's optical instead of copper, I'd check to make sure there are no tight bends or kinks in it anywhere.

I removed the battery terninals from another remote control and used them to fix the Sansui remote.

On later model Sansui tv's, you can bring up the menu by pushing both volume buttons on the front of the set at the same time. After the menu is on the screen, you can navigate using the channel and volume buttons.

on some tv's you can get to the menu by pushing both the channel up and down buttons at the same time.
