sounds like a virtual US number. some companies sell phone numbers with this prefix for use by international companies. making it possible to dial a us number to reach the company.
it may also be used by private people not from the us to keep in touch with family in the states relatively cheap compared to international calls
A toll-free, Freecall, Freephone, 800, 0800 or 1-800 number is a special telephone number, in that the called party is charged the cost of the calls by the telephone carrier, instead of the calling party. A toll-free number is assigned from a specia dialing prefix range (also known as are code) such as 1-800 where all calls to those prefixes are free to the caller.
This is happening only when you do not dial the correct number...either the zone code is wrong ..or you miss a digit ..or dial a wrong one ..If you try to send the message in another country or in another network ..pay attention on the code zone ..and the prefixes
0011
0011 is the international prefix used to dial somewhere outside of Australia.
44
44 is the international code used to dial to United Kingdom.
131 is the local area or city code used to dial to Edinburgh. (Not added because the number entered already seems to include an area code.)
1563830887
01563830887 is the local number you wrote. The national prefix was removed from the number.
I believe the "Dialing Prefix" refers to a number that you put in that will allow you to access an outside line or get a dial tone. So in an office environment e.g if you dial '99' before you can dial a number. You can probably leave it blank in an home setup.
First of all you must enter the program mode if you have your manual it will tell you how to do this. If not try this. press the # and on the screen should show command and a flashing number with a question mark. Enter the number 700 and press enter. this will get you in the prefixes. use the next key to scroll until you a a line with no numbers, it may take a little bit depending on how many prefixes are entered. Now then you use the arrow key to get past the first 3 digits that are flashing, enter the number 01 for non toll calls arrow over one more time enter the number to access an outside line commonly 9 then the prefix excatly how it is dialed eg.( 001 01 91800 05). Recap the 001 is what number in the list of approved prefixes. 01 is non toll call. 9 is the access number dialed form the room to get an outside line. 1800 is the first numbers dialed to call a number like 1800DIRECT. 05 is the number of digits dialed including 9. If you have any problems with this email me donnie_rawls2002 at yahoo.com. Hope this helps. I had to do this today at a local hotel and it was a bit confusing in finding the right commands and how to get there.
Inserting a dial prefix
A dial prefix is a number or group of numbers that are automatically added to the beginning of every fax number you enter at the control panel or from the software. The maximum number of characters for a dial prefix is 50.
The default setting is Off . You might want to turn this setting on and enter a prefix if, for example, you have to dial a number such as 9 to get a telephone line outside of your company telephone system. While this setting is activated, you can dial a fax number without the dial prefix by using manual dial. For instructions, see Using manual dial .
To set the dial prefix
On the all-in-one control panel, press Menu .
Use the < or the > button to select Fax setup , and then press .
Press the > button once to select Fax Send setup , and then press .
Use the < or the > button to select Dial Prefix , and then press .
Use the < or the > button to select On or Off , and then press .
If you selected On , use the alphanumeric buttons to enter the prefix, and then press . You can use numbers, pauses, and dialing symbols.
I realized that I had programmed the prefix "1" into the machine and had also been using that prefix when I dialed the recipient's number. So the solution was to simply dial the number minus the prefix and voila! problem solved.
