Magtag Dryer MDE2400 Dryer won't turn off

I am having the same problem with my Maytag dryer. I have to manually turn the machine off when the chime sounds, There is a digital diplay that is showing that looks like a marquee that goes around and around. The heat in the dryer goes off when the chime sounds but the drum keeps turning. Can't find what this means in the manual. Anyone know what to do?

On our Maytag dryer, the looping marquee lights mean that the dryer is in "wrinkle" mode. This means that the wrinkle mode has been selected. In this mode, the dryer continues to rotate on and off after the heat cycle has ended. It does this to keep the clothes from wrinkling -- and it displays the looping lights.

There is a timer motor that is usually controlled be the operating thermostat, that is not working. It could be either the motor or the thermostat at fault. It will need to be tested.

If you hear the motor run, but the drum doesn't turn, it's most likely a broken belt.

No heat from dryer

You have a bad heating element and or a bad high limit switch. Check them for continuity with a volt meter. No continuity, replace the part.
