SOURCE: removing the DC input from a Gateway 7322gz notebook

I tried looking up a manual on how to remove the motherboard on Gateway's support site but they do not provide one. They may have one available that is not published on the site. I would first contact their tech support via Chat and ask if they have one available for download. This would give you specific instructions on how to open the laptop and remove the motherboard so you can replace the DC jack. You will need the serial number from the laptop to open a chat session.
If they do not have one you can try it yourself. I did this myself with my HP laptop and after many tedious hours of work I was able to remove the motherboard, remove the dc jack, and resauder a new one on the board and it worked out perfectly.
If you feel comfortable doing the work yourself first start off by removing the screws on the bottom. You then should be able to remove the keyboard, look for a cable that connects it to the board. Now you should be able to remove the pieces of the case around the keyboard, look for the cable connecting the touchpad to the motherboard. After that you should be able to remove the LCD screen, look for the cable connecting it to the motherboard. Now remove the screws holding the motherboard in and remove the tiny bolts around the external monitor connector and the printer connector if you have one. Now you should have access to the DC jack. You will need to sauder the current one off the board and resauder a new one on. Keep track of the many many screws and try placing the components in the order they came out so will know which ones need to go back in in the proper order.
This is VERY tedious if you are not familiar with working on laptop hardware. You maybe able to find a local shop willing to do this or you can look online for a place that replaces DC jacks on motherboards.

Hope this helps!

None of the HDMI ports on my LG 42LE5400 are working. I've tried unplugging everything but still "No Signal." Is this problem fixable?

Today's TVs consist of three boards - power, input (control) and video boards. Disassemble the back and take out the input board and look for burned IC chips. The input board gets its power from the power board, check the voltage. If all looks OK, then check the power board, especially the high voltage circuit. The volts at the capacitor should be around 390 to 400 volts. Today's TVs has a chip that check all the circuits and if one of circuits is not working, the TV should not turn on. (it is a safety thing.)

Acer laptop

The DC Jack is the socket into which the power cable plugs into your notebook. If it has come loose the the solder points connecting the jack to the motherboard have broken contact and that is why the notebook is not charging. A loose DC jack is not suitable for DIY repair unless you are experienced in internal notebook repairs and have all the right equipment.
The only way to get this fault repaired is for a professional notebook repair technician to completely disassemble the notebook and then either re-solder the original jack back into place or install and solder in a new replacement jack before reassembling the notebook. Because of the skill and time it takes to disassemble repair and reassemble a notebook, repairing a loose DC jack can be expensive, but if you look around you should be able to find an experienced notebook repair center that will do it for $50-$75 and give you a warranty as well.
A DC jack often become loose if it is allowed to directly bear the deadweight of the heavy AC/DC Adapter on the power cable or the cable catches on something wile connected to the notebook. the AC/DC Adapter should lie full weight on the floor during charging. If the cable is not long enough for the heavy AC/DC Adapter to reach the floor, then it should be lifted it up and placed on the desk or table beside the notebook. Any cable length problems should be solved by using a surge-protected power extension cable. Also, a notebook should never be carried around when its power cable is attached to it.

My DC jack broke what should i do.

I am assuming you mean the DC jack on the motherboard in your laptop?
You can repair it yourself, or take it to a repair shop and pay to have someone do it.
To repair it yourself, you'll need:
1) A new DC jack (though sometimes you can fix the broken one)
2) The disassembly guide to your specific model of laptop. Google the phrase "laptop make/model disassembly" and one should come up pretty quickly. Guides are generally step-by-step with pictures included, and putting it back together is just the reverse of disassembly.
3) A soldering iron and solder. 15-30 watts for delicated boards like a motherboard. Once you've pulled your motherboard out, You can de-solder the broken DC jack from the motherboard (if necessary) and solder the new one on. DC jacks are generally 2-4 solder points and fairly simple to press back on.

Dc input jack damage can this be repaired or is it part of motherboard

Hi,

The DC jack plug is soldered onto the motherboard and will need to be de-soldered before a new adapter is soldered into place.
Most reputabele PC repair stores should be able to do this for you but it will cost labour charges as the laptop will have to be completely disassembled.

My LG R400 laptop has a bad charging port.how do i repair it

DC Jack diagnosis:
1. Test power adapter for output voltage. Bend the power cable in various directions while doing this to be sure that there is no broken conductors in the cable.
2. If power adapter is Ok, connect it & see if the power LED on the laptop will glow when you jiggle the power connector in various directions. If yes, then the DC jack might be loose or damaged, & need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
3. If not, then disassemble the laptop. Remove any components that attach to the laptop's motherboard first (e.g. battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, ... etc.)
4. Next, remove the keyboard & the LCD screen.
5. Finally, unscrew all screws that hold the upper cover & lower cover together so that you could gain access to the motherboard.
6. Inspect the solder points connecting the DC jack to the motherboard. Make sure that none of them is loose. If any, re-solder them.
7. Inspect the center pin in the DC jack. Make sure that it is not broken or loose. If it is, then you might need to replace the DC jack.
8. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.
