I bought usb hotspot for me to be able to use my mac book pro without having to bee somewhere wifi was available so it states on the device 3g but 4glte upgradable but dont know how

Have you installed the jvc drive software from the disc ok, it finds mine and downloads it all into folders. As soon as you plug in the device the software should auto open.

If its 9.2 it may be because your mac is usb 1 and your external HDD is usb 2. It will recognize it but sometimes it takes longer to see the drive.

You have not mention what Operating system is on your PC.
For Windows OS XP, you just have to install at least XP Service Pack 2 or higher... and the USB 2.0 ports will function. For Vista & Win 7 OS, the USB 2.0 drivers is in the Operating System when you install Windows.
