There are only a few
Authorized Polar Service Centers. If you did not take it to one of these (which provide a 90 day warranty) they may have broken something or put in the wrong battery.
Polar and other HRM's are mini computers and actually quite delicate inside, they are not normal watches and while many watch repair places profess to be able to fix them, more often than not they cause a new problem. They are also repressurized with a special machine to keep them watertight, your watch is most certainly not watertight anymore and will eventually cause yoiu problems.
Too answer your question, no power on switch, if the battery install was good you would see a display. Take the watch back to the shop, and if they can not fix it, send it to Polar and then have the shop reimburse you for the repair. Polar will be happy to send them a detailed and Itemized account of what they had to fix.
