do you actually see the motor spinning? or think you hear it, check the belt hasn't come off, or gone slack, it needs to be fairly tight but not too tight, if the belt and pulley go round but the drum doesn't then you have serious damage and need a new inner drum hope i have helped and if i can help more get back to me, i am an appliance engineer of 20 years

SOURCE: Hoover Vision 1600 drum not spinning?

I have similar problem with same model unit, found brushes on motor worn to point copper contact is hitting and scoreing commutator. Easy checked, ensure power completely disconnected, lie machine on side and gently rotate drum looking in side the motor. The commutator is what looks like a circular block of copper segments which will rotate with the drum and should be evenly worn and coated with carbon from the brushes. If you see a clean copper area, usually in the center, then the brushes are worn down below workable levels. Suggest replacing should resolve problem.

SOURCE: hoover 600mb doesn't spin

Valve blocked in rear of drum. Switch off power supply before cleaning. If the problem still occurs it could possibly be the brushes in the motor. both jobs are simple and very cheap to repair

Have you checked to see if the pump filter is blocked so that all the water can drain away.
Does the machine just stop with all it's water still in it.
Does the machine finish it's cycle.
Does all the water pump out, do you hear a sucking noise (means no water left) or a humming noise( means pump jammed)

Hi, My Hoover 600MB top loading washing machine is approx 8 years old. Recently it has occassionally not fully spun out - clothes still wet at end of cycle. Now it also often doesn't agitate - just...

Have a look for coins etc stuck in the drain pump or the tub outlet hoses especially where they fit onto the tub. If a coin or other foreign material blocks the water flow when draining , these machines wont spin properly.

Hoover 600mb doesn't spin dry. Clothes just sit in the machine without moving. Water empties OK, but clothes are dripping wet.

Hoover 600MB Top Loader, Won't Spin

I have the same problem. Just started missing the spin cycles and now I need to find which part to replace.
So far I think it could be: Aged contacts in the Timer, a faulty spin/no spin switch, or something to do with the brake/release mechanisms etc. ..I do know that the problem is electrical because everytime the motor starts the spin works fine; therefore eliminating in my opinion, the mechanical gearbox bits as a cause.
