SOURCE: I bought a NU-TEC DVD 318 I want to make it region free

1. Turn on the DVD player, and DO NOT have a disc in the unit.
2. Press the “setup” button on the remote, and then press "1389" on the remote.
3. You will then see an information screen, with Region Code: 4 displayed.
4. Use the Up and Down keys on your remote to change the Region Code to 0, and then press the Enter key on your remote to confirm the change.
5. Press the Setup button to exit the setting.
Your unit should now be region free.

SOURCE: I would like the remote control code for a Nu Tec

I don't know if this helps you,but it may help someone, if you set the lock on this model and forget the four digit code enter 8034 on your remote doing this will switch the tv off, turn your tv back on, after your tv is on you will see the first time installation guide, select your language retune your tv, the code will reset back to 0000. In the book it says this password cannot be reset, it also says the first time(and only the first time) you turn on your tv set, you see an installation guide. how wrong they are, hope this helps.

It means that one of the secondary output voltages are short. You ll need to check every output voltage at the smps transformer. If the set is producing a hissing sound, then either the 115 v zeener is faculty or the horizontal output transistor is faulty

PCL5415R NO COLOR OR SOUND

On the secondary side of the horizontal output stage flyback transformer, they have a secondary supply output. This output comes off from a number of windings in the flyback transformer. These feed individual sets of high speed rectifiers and then they are filtered with electolytic capcitors. Some of these outputs also feed voltage regulators where regulation is required. Briefly, most likely there is a failure in this section and therefore a supply voltage is missing that is used to run the sound processing and colour demodulation.

If the voltage went too high for any instant from the failed voltage sources before they failed completely, there is a possiblity that other damage in the sound and colour processor sections.

I would suggest to take the TV in for an estimate to see if it is feasible to service. If it is only a number of capacitors and maybe a some high speed diodes and voltage regulators that have to be changed, most of the cost will be for the labour.

First get an estimate for the repair. Considering the age of the set, it may pay to get a new one.
