If it is the model I am thinking of, I did a slight bit of back ground on this, it is a Winchester 1897 Pigeon. If it is, then it will be stamped "Pigeon" on the breech and have a picture of a pigeon stamped on the frame, behind the trigger. If it is a Pigeon then it would have been produced sometime between 1897 and 1939.

Yes, it was available as an option until 1914. They are moderately rare and not recommended for shooting with modern ammunition. you would actually be best off to consider it a wall-hanger.
