You are experiencing what we affectionately call "The Blue Screen of De##h", which is causing the PC to crash and reboot in a never-ending cycle. There are a few things that you can try to fix the situation. The first, and easiest, is to press the F8 key during bootup and try to go to SAFE MODE. If you can do that, then you can go to SYSTEM PROPERTIES under COMPUTER, select the SYSTEM PTOTECTION tab, and click on SYSTEM RESTORE. This will allow you to roll the computer back to a previous configuration, since it is likely that the crash could be caused by a corrupted or failed update. If you cannot get to SAFE MODE during bootup, you options get more limited. Most PCs today do not come with a Windows Installation disk, so using that and booting in the REPAIR area is not likely an option. This leaves you with either reinstalling using the recovery disk set (if you have one) or with the recovery partition. The downside of these options is that they overwrite ALL information in the disk, meaning all of your personal files will be gone. What you CAN do if you have access to another desktop PC is to shut down you computer, remove the hard disk, and install it as a second drive on the other desktop. It won't boot to the disk, so it can't crash. But you will be able to see the file structure on that disk and can recover personal files to a USB stick or other external media before replacing the disk in your system and using the recovery method(s) described above.
Hello.. It is Very Possible that you have what is called a 'RECOVERY PARTITION', which has the rerecovery disk information installed on your Hard Drive. This eliminates having to use a CD. To access the Recovery Partition do the following: 1) Press F9 during Bootup. 2) Press [Enter] to Select Windows Setup [EMS Enabled] 3) Read the 'ASUS Preload Wizard' screen and click NEXT. 4) Select Partition Option and click NEXT. 5) FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPLETE RECOVERY PROCESS. ***Visit www.asus.com for updated Drivers and Utilities*** GREAT LUCK TO YOU!!!
You can use a torrent site like isoHUNT, to download a copy of the Acer OEM vista disc, this is a little illegal, but if you use your own Windows key from your COA sticker, it should register and activate ok.
You may have to download your drivers seperatly from from ACER.
You will need a torrent client like UTorrent, and the download could take a day or so
One thing you could check is what order your computer is booting from. CD drive hard drive then other. Should be hard drive first. Go into the bios to do that. If you hold the power button down for 5 to 10 seconds the machine should physically shut down rather than unplugg. The unplug thing sounds like its in the power settings. But I've never heard of power settings being connected to bootup except for a password. Anyway a wild guess is check the bios bootup order.
sp1 has been corupted this is comon problem use your acer recovery disks and use the repair my computer option on vista and go back to a previous system backup which should be just before sp1 started to install hope this helps
updates can be slow, and lead to more updates sometimes.you should goto windows update, let it search for important updates then install them.even if it takes a while, once you do that it should be fine.and configure updates to auto download but ask to install.
One of the updates is not installing properly. The only thing you can really do in this case is to use your Windows Vista installation disk and try to either repair or restore to a previously known good restore point. Hope this helps.
