Kenmore 70 series Washer will not drain and spin

You have a bad lid switch . Try inserting something into the hole on the top and see if that starts the machine in drain/spin . If not , still bad lid switch . If so , tells you still bad lid switch .

The washer will not spin with water in it. Looks like a drain blockageis the issue, remove the drain hose and put it in a bucket close to the floor as you can get it. If water flows out the machine maybe ok, Cycle the washer near the rinse and spin cycle and note if the water comes out with force? (this will tell you if the pump is working) If all of this checks out you have a plumbing issue in the wall to sort out.
