My viewsonic keeps going on and off by itself

Make sure the PC itself is not going into a power saving or screen saver mode...this is the most common issue when playing completely automated presentations or movies.
Normally, I suggest turning off all power saving functions in the PC or Laptop, and disabling the screen saver all together.

Sounds like your monitor is going bad. You might get some more use out of it if you power it off for a couple hours and try again but my guess is this is a heat-related failure that is common on ViewSonic monitors.

Look for bad caps as shown in my pictures, worst case can be bad lamps assemblies, see pictures of bad lamps album.

You need to check the internal power supply to see if your capacitors have popped. Even though it may show power, the portion of the power supply that powers the LCD itself may have been damaged ::

i have the same problem, a clear image, the the projector shuts down, turn the fan on, and "lamp" blinks.

i returned my projector to viewsonic service center, they told me to change the lamp.

the problem is that a lamp is very expensive!

well my brothers had the same problem you need to unplug it for an hour the turn it back on so it refreshes if it dosent work then Call the help technical support

Have you tried booting into safe mode? This will also provide a safe video mode. During bootup, press the F8 key. Arrow down to "Safe Mode" and press the enter key. If the monitor still does it after this, chances are it is bad.
