There is a very good forum type site for Quick Books and a fair number of experts available
I would suggest that you avail yourself of their knowledge

I have seen this happen on many different levels in QBooks. Try this MCC726
http://www.ccleaner.com
download this. I know you have tried about everything from what i can see. but i have had luck with this program on a QB Premier 2009 on a new 64bit system. I kept getting errors during the times the user was attempting to run reports that displayed the same error information as yours.
Ccleaner is a free program, similar to your registry mechanic. but humor me, because i have seen it work many times before. load the program. make sure you have user privileges at an admin level when you scan. then go to the option to scan the registry, and fix the errors. do not save the backup of the registry when it asks and click finish. try that out. let me know if that resolves your issue. if it works great! if it still causes a problem, restart and try the QB program, its the strangest thing i have seen, but for some reason i have to visit this little accounting office once every 2 months and run this program and clean the registry files that get in a funk. low and behold it works for them. let me know how that goes!
Good Luck!
Ruben
Sir, the most reliable and secure way to recover Quick Book files is Quick Books Data Recovery. But you like to try for your self, please go through these steps.
I hope this solves your problem.
Run the Rebuild Data File utility
Create a Portable Company File and restore the Portable Company File
Feel free to more questions.

I would suspect your PC is infected..a run time error 216 is caused by a virus named the
SubSeven Trojan
I'd recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware utility to see if there are any additional malicious applications your current antivirus scanner doesn't detect.

I also recommend booting the computer into Windows Safe Mode before running a scan (hit F8 after the BIOS boot screen.)
I've cleaned many Windows computers with this free tool
Also try using Adaware or Spybot...sometimes different software will find things that other software will not find...I would also use AVG 8.5 Antivirus and do a complete scan of the computer

Hi Michael, Thank you for your reply. When I first encountered this issue, read about the SubSeven Virus and had previously downloaded and ran Malwarebytes Utility. No SubSeven virus was found...which was disappointing. I have NOT however run the scan in Windows Safe Mode. I will try that and let you know what happens. Thank you for the suggestion.
Hello again, well the Malwarebytes scan in safe mode came back clean. I regularly run Grisoft's AVG pgm and Ad Aware (I also run Registry Mechanic). As you so aptly pointed out, different products can pick up different viruses/malware. So I'm thinking that my problem with my QB...might be more specifically related to some QB glitch (QB is known for its share of problems) Thanks for the suggestions, guess I'll keep plugging away and see if anyone ever dealt with fixing a corrupt QB data file.
I have been running various virus programs and malware programs and my system doesn't come back with any viruses (I did run a scan in safe mode as well as suggested) My problem is with a corrupt Quick Books Premier data file. It seems it may have happened when I converted from Pro to Premier. Does anyone know how I can fix a Quick Books data file?

Hello Wigi!
Thank you so much for trying to help me. I eagerly approached your solution, but unfortunately, did not get very far. I did Resort all QuickBooks lists (and sublists). I then ran the Rebuild Uitility. A backup of my file was made, but when the Rebuild started, it got up to 34% complete and stopped with the following message:
QuickBooks has experienced a problem and must be shut down. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you choose, you can report the error you have just experienced to the Intuit Product Development team to help us investigate and eliminate the problem. Please enter any additional information that might help resolve this error. Code: 14800 76862.
I’d love to hear any more suggestions. Thanks again.

Did you get my reply?
Hi Ruben,
Thanks for getting back to me with the suggestion of CCleaner. I have been using CCleaner for some time now and I agree, it is a wonderful program that picks up on things that other programs don't. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped with my QB dilemma. I have even tried repairing QB, I un-installed and re-installed QB, but my datafile remains corrupted. There are duplicate file entries that I can't get rid of (greyed out) so, I'm not sure what to do. If you can think of anything else...I'd love to hear it!
