Check for a missing wire to the battery as the voltage regulators are not controlling anything
if you have a 32 amp alternator and it is producing 48 amps , the voltage regulator is not controlling the out put of the stator so it will burn out from overload
voltage from the stator has to be 13.2 volts DC minimum and no more than 14.5 v DC at 2,000rpms
suggest that you get an accredited bike electrician to check out the circuits and system

Testimonial: "no its putting out 48 a/c volts not amps at the stator at 3000 rpms!and i am a creditable tech im just missing sumthing and dont no what. iv checked the regulater replaced it twice ??? what am i missing?"

ac will not charge a battery as it has to be bc dc volts
check that the voltage regulator is connected correctly as it should limit it to the 14.5 volts dc
could be a problem rectifier with a short in the system or a diode

Everything lights up but wont crank the engine ovet

The way to start is to ck your battery for 12V & clean bat terminals. Ck the ignition fuse &locate & ck the starter relay for power & ground. Jump the relay between the 2 conn (pwr/grd) See if you start.. Key on If OK r/r relay, If it doesn't work, follow the RED wire to the starter & ck for 12V there. Also ck for a good ground conn at the starter (both with good readings & clean conn. If all is well there when someone else is turning the ignition key to start, then the starter is NG If readings at the starter NG, relocate the starter relay. Good luck, Frank M

Charging problem

Hi
As the battery & regulator/rectifier have been replaced, the only other things to check are :-
Continuity from reg/rect red wire to battery & to earth, then check for continuity between each of the 3 yellow wires, all should be the same resistance - if not the stator coils in the alternator are faulty

Ride safe

Just put new stater ,hub & voltage reg. on about a week later lost all power, noticed pos. post melted. plus oil on back tire, was told it was the trans blow by ?

You have two issues here, the first is your voltage regulator is bad, was bad, and or wired up wrong. Hence the MELTED posted, this is really bad. The second issue is oil on back tire. Do a little work to try and find where the oil is coming from? My bet is if the thing didn't have oil on it before the hub & stator replacement....then maybe you might not have used a new gasket? Find where the oil is coming from first then you cn address how to fix.

Wire connector between stator & voltage reg/rectifier burnt

your voltage/reg. can be tested in a couple different ways check ground res. check res. then revs. bias on diodes you have ac in dc out it sounds like you may have a diode gone bad allowing ac curent to flow causing the wires to get hot

Ive got a 1974 dodge pickup with a mid 80's? 315 engine. My alternator has a bat, field and grd terms. My wiring calls for 2 field terms? How do I marry them? The alternator is putting out big time and at...

you need to find the volt. reg. and the wires from the reg. go to the alt. the field doesn't get strait bat volt. but 13 or 14 volt isn't bad, but if your wires are rite than your reg. is bad. 18 volt is to high!!!
