SOURCE: MAYTAG GAS DRYER TUMBLES BUT NO HEAT (FRONT LOADER 6 YRS. OLD)

Hello maryfitgera,
It certainly sounds like you are not getting a flame established in your dryer. That can be one of several components such as a non-resettable thermal fuse, gas valve assembly or control relay to that gas valve assembly. Unless you are well versed on how to work on these kinds of components, I suggest you just call in an appliance tech or.. let me know if you want to attempt diagnosing and repairing it yourself. Be advised that there are elements of danger in so doing. Let me know how you want to procede on this and I'd be happy to walk you thru it..
Regards,
Rick

To service the slope front dryer you must first remove the door and a few screws so that you can pop the goalpost shaped front panel off. Then you can access the innards.

I have a service manual HERE

Maytag Square-Front (1998) and Sloped-Front (1999) Dryers Front Panel and Top...

Most of the internal components of Maytag Square-Front (1998) and Sloped-Front (1999) Dryers can be accessed with the removal of the front panel and lifting of the top cover. The top cover can only be lifted after the front panel is removed. Make sure that power to the machine is disconnected prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

The first step is the removal of the four screws located vertically along the inside lip of the door opening. These screws hold the front panel to the front shroud assembly. Once the four screws are removed, grasp and press in on the upper edges of the front panel posts then twist it inward to release the clips holding it to the cabinet. Tilt the top of the front panel and move it away from the dryer.

The top cover is held on each side of the cabinet by hold down brackets. Locate and remove the 5/16" hex-head screws holding each bracket then swing the bracket to the outside and unhook it from the slot in the top cover lip. Open the door then lift the front of the top cover and tilt it toward the rear of the dryer.

The internal components of the dryer can now be accessed. Reinstall the top cover and the front panel in reverse of the removal steps.

This procedure is also applicable to Maytag Neptune Front-Load Washers. The only difference is the dispenser bezel removal.

My Maytag Mod. DE7500 elec. dryer is no longer heating up. Starts and goes around fine just no heat

Hello,

On this dryer the element is what fails, the screws are on the lower front that hold front on. You will need an ohm meter to verify unless you pull the element out and visually inspect it.

How to remove the front panel of a maytag neptune gas dryer

Removal of the front panel requires the removal of the top cover and the console. Disconnect power to the dryer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Remove the 2 screws attaching the top cover to the rear of the dryer then slide it rearward to clear the screw head from the top cover flange and lift the cover off the dryer cabinet.

Remove the screws securing the heater PCB board and disconnect the black and white wiring harness connectors from the board.

Remove the four screws attaching the console to the washer cabinet and rotate the console down to remove it from the dryer.

Remove the four screws attaching the top of the front panel to the cabinet and the two screws at the bottom of the door opening.

Pull the front panel forward and disconnect the interior light wiring harness then lift the front panel off the tabs across the bottom and move it away from the dryer.

Reinstall the front panel, the console, and the top cover in reverse of the removal steps.

I Have a maytag Electric Dryer the dryer is

it could be your drum glides in the front of the drum or the rear center bearing or rear rollers, or the belt idler pulley or motor end bearings going bad,you will need to remove the front cover by removing lower kick panel screws near the floor and lifting upward on front cover, then remove top cover screws located under top cover and lift up and secure so as not to break wires to control panel, then rotate drum by hand and listen for noise location

Dryer wont shut off when the clothes are dry

Most likely your timer assembly is defective. If you are so inclined, unplug the Dryer and remove the back cover (several screws)at the top section of the back panel. Pull the timer knob off the front panel of the dryer. There are usually a couple of screws that hold the timer assembly in place and a wiring plug in module, unplug and remove. You can go to a local Appliance Parts depot(see yellow pages or internet) and take the old one in to match up the part number etc. It also helps to take your Make/Model/Serial numbers in as well. This part is usually about $30 to $50. Many of these Parts depots can test the old one for you if you ask them to see if this is the actual fault before buying the new one.
