Sharp Aquos LC C5277UN 52" LCD TV 1080p: TV turns on via cable DVR; TV picture comes on for few seconds, then turns off. Then Power and OPC lights flash repeatedly. Is there a solution to the problem?

The problem started a week ago and the TV would work for hours and then shut off with Power and OPC lights flashing repeatedly. Just turning DVR and TV off and then on solved the problem again for several hours. The on time shortened and shortened until now when the TV is only on for one or two seconds. Thanks for your help in advance.

The solution is to either contact a TV repair business locally or replace the TV.

Testimonial: "Thanks! Care to expand on what the problem is? Does a component need to be replaced? What does the manual say about flashing Power and OPC lights?"

SOURCE: No POWER

How many times does the POWER led flash per second? (Dont worry about the OPC).

1x (steady constant blink) = Lamps or inverters
2x = Power Supply
3x = Main Unit

If i am reading it correctly, looks like the POWER led is flashing 2x, which means it is a power supply failure. Either way, your TV needs to have a board replaced, there isn't anything you can do to fix it yourself. Try locating your local sharp authorized service center to repair your TV (1-800-237-4277)

Same problem. TV worked night before and then would turn on but no picture or sound. Power and OPC lights blinking. I couldn't change the channel or get to the menu.
I disconnected the coaxial cable and the power for a few minutes and then plugged it back in (electric) but left the cable off. I got a message that it couldn;t get a signal. At that point I was able to change the channels. I plugged the cable line back in and everything worked fine... Good luck!!!

SOURCE: Sharp LC-26D43U Power light flashes and unit won't turn on?

It's a power supply related problem. When it turns itself off, this it called protection mode. The TV automatically turns off to protect other parts form being damaged.
The most common problem is the Power Supply Unit or the Backlight Inverter Board.
You may have to take the TV to a repair shop to find out which one is bad. Paying a repair shop to replace the board for you maybe more than the TV is worth. If you let them diagnose it and you replace the bad circuit board yourself, it would be cheaper.

Here's a place I use to get parts for TVs:
http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=LC-26D43U&p=1
The problem is the repair shop may charge you double or three times of what the part costs at the web site link above. Then, plus labor. I just want to save you money. :)

LC-52SB55U Sharp TV will not power up. The power and OPC lights blinks once together and then the power light blinks once by it's self

What I did was unplug it for a few months when that started happening to me. When I plugged it back in it worked great. There are also a few things on the internet on how to fix that.

Sharp

Sorry to say, but TV is done for. I had the same exact issue with the same exact size and model. I had two different repair shops take a look at it and they both came to the conclusion that the system board went bad and was not worth replacing. I sold mine for parts

Sharp lc-c5277un, tv turns on but no picture, switched the cable to the blue ray input and worked but no other inputs work. Happened before, Costco had me do some kind of reset and worked till today.

your main board that takes all the input is the cause to this problem. you can try to reset the tv by disconecting it from the power outlet, then press the power button on tv (not on the remote) and hold it down for 30 seconds

Problem connecting my PS3 to my Sharp Aquos LC-C3237U LCD TV

Your PS3 set itself above the max resolution your LC-C3237U. Most likely the PS3 is doing 1080P, but the highest the Sharp can do is 1080i. So do this:

1. Connect PS3 to TV (you can use the current cable or analog cable)
2. Turn on TV and set input to port PS3 is on.
3. Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
4. Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.
