I would take that puppy back to store and get exchanged out. According to lemon law. Let me know what happens. Thank you Jay.

SOURCE: Sony BRAVIA KDL-40W4000

Hi there,

I've been looking into this myself as I've also recently purchased the KDL-40W4000. I was watching a murky old film and was getting a bit of sludgy ghosting but found that by reducing the contrast to 25, setting the backlight on low, colour on neutral and the brightness about 40-60 (and taking ALL advanced noise functions off), this reduced the ghosting considerably.

BUT, this is quite a cool and dark image. If you watch standard TV and films mainly, a variation of the Cinema setting is probably the best overall setting i.e.

backlight: min
contrast: 79
brightness: 50
colour: 53
colour temp: Warm 2 (although Warm 1 is less yellow and still fine)
sharpness: min
noise reduction: off
mpeg nr: off
contrast enhancer: off
colour space: standard

SOURCE: sony bravia kdl-52w3000, turn tv on, no picture or

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.

To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

Sony kdl-46ex500 2 red power blinks

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Is there a fix for poor audio quality on KDL 46ex500?

Do a factory reset to this set, and check. If it do not help you, check its speaker/s. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

When i turn on my kdl-46ex500 sony tv the screen will flash on and the sony emblem will appear then the tv will shut down you can do this several time still the same out come

You were smart not to let yourself be ripped off. Try this. Unplug and replug the set in powered down status. Then turn on and off using the remote. Then, one by one, actuate every button on the remote, then turn set off, even if already off. Then turn set on. See how the set works now.
