Machine currently picks up line 1 calls but line 1 is down and calls from that line are being forwarded into line 2 but the answering machine does not pick up line 2 calls. How can I switch the answering machine to line 2?
SOURCE: Answering machine doesn't pick-up reliably
I found in the manual that if the machine doesn't answer after the correct number of rings, then it may be the ringing system used by the phone company. But I have also heard of people with VOIP (such as Vonage) having problems with this as well.

SOURCE: answering machine wont pick up it just cuts off incoming call leaving line busy
just set the amount of rings higher on the back of the phone and make sure all you old messages are deleted and also make sure its not set to do not disturb
SOURCE: HOW TO CHANGE THE AUTO LINE SELECTION WHEN PICKING UP HANDSET
Sounds like you have two seperate line groups programmed in the system, Program 32 " Automatic Preference " controls the lines the phone will automatically be connected to when the telephone handset is taken off hook or the Spkr button is used.
SOURCE: Can't answer direct line calls
This sounds like a programming issue on this telephone. There are 2 areas in programming that would cause this. If you have recently had a technician out to do some programming then it is possible that he made a mistake and needs to be called back to correct his mistake.
SOURCE: Pick up handset to answer a call and NOT have to press a line
if your phone had set for ringging assignment, u no need to press any key to answer the call.
check the indicator light,
if green light turn on, u can direct answer the call
if red light turn on, u ned to press the line to answer the call
kindly ask the phone provider the set yr extention for incoming ring assignment
