Is your sensor bar connected to the Wii? Check the sensor bar cable for cuts or severe bends (like a V shape) as they might cause the detection problems with the Wii-mote. A cheap fix is to put lit candles in front of your TV and see if the Wii-mote picks it up then.

Also try changing the batteries in the controller.

Your sensor bar is broken then. Call Nintendo. The same thing happened to me, Nintendo sell you a new one for 5$.

Hand does not show up on menu

The main unit is not receiving the signal from the remote,
It can be a couple of things...

More than likely you have two remote handhelds. You may be using the wrong handheld to choose the options. Try the 2nd handheld.

Check to make sure the batteries are charged and handheld is ON

Make sure the receiver is in plain sight and not blocked

Cursor hand will not show up

Make sure you do not block either the sensor bar or the sensor on the wiimotes. Check all your connections in the back escpecially the sensor bar. If everything is all set you said it worked for your new wii system so im assuming your old one has issues. try all these out and tell me how it works out

Hand Controller Switch off

Hi--Thanks for your e-mail. I have found out the cause of my problem with the TV screen dimming after about 5 minutes when the hand controller goes off. It was me--by pure chance I discovered it was due to me turning on the WII console using the hand controller and not the "Mains" switch on the console, so when the hand controller switched off, the display on the TV went into "Standby". It even did it when displaying the Home screen so it was nothing to do with the game. All I did was switch on the console with the main switch and then switched on the remote, I left it untouched for about 20 minutes and it was fine.Perhaps this little tip might come in handy for some other "Twit" like myself. Thanks for your offer of possible help. Alan Marsham.

Controllers glitching on the tv

We used to have the same problem. We have our TV in the corner of the rec room, with windows on either side of the TV. Turns out that the sunlight coming in through the windows was interfering with the functionality of the Wii remotes. All we had to do was hang some heavy drapes to close while we are playing and that was the end of the problem. If you have any bright sources of light which might relfect in the Wii remotes or the Wii remote bar (receiver of the Wii remotes), turn them off, or block the light.

Thanks for using the FixYa Forums!

Hand icon wont appear on the Wii main menu

Well, mabey your sensor bar settings are out of wack. You might have your sensor bar set to above TV but you actualy have it below. To fix it, I would move the sensor bar to the opposite position, go into settings and chanage the sensor bar settings to the way you want. then put the sensor bar back where you want it.
