If you forgot your Apple ID password

Recover or Reset Forgotten Apple ID or Password on iPhone & iPad

Go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and reset your id. You should have create security questions to answer. You had to use an email to create your id.

You don't need to know your password for the iPad. As long as you know the password for your iTunes account, you used to setup the account on the iPad for. you need to go too the main site apple.com when the site got loaded click on suport then apple id, then click on forgotten apple id password then read the instruction. if you got a pass for the lock screen and forgot pass, then you have to restart your ipad.
