SOURCE: Freezer defrosts too long.

Outside of HVACRH20 excellent advice, here a few stats about this model. The main control board will monitor the resistance of the evaporator thermistor. This is located near the top of the evaporator. This thermistor determines when the unit goes into and out of defrost. The bi-metal is redundant to the operation. It will terminate the defrost only if the thermistor fails. Check the values of the thermistor with the attached chart. Catriver..post back

SOURCE: Ice Maker leaking water in freezer and won't stop making ice

The filter should be before the fridge and should not affect it it sounds like the water valve from the fridge is defective .Other possibility is the icemaker head is defective and needs changing.

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck [email protected]

SOURCE: We have a Westinghouse WSE6100SA

This could also be an issue with simply too much food in the fridge blocking some of the air channels or that there are containers in there which are uncovered which contribute to high humidity in the box.The unit may also be left open too much.
Before blaming the manufacturer/servicer...let's look at the usage cycle.  This ice is coming from somewhere!  Do a full defrost of the unit.  Keep it closed after loading in food.  What is the temperature in the box?  40F in the fridge and 0 F in the freezer is about right.  Use an outdoor thermometer and check after an hour of closed door.

Water pooling and freezing on bottom of freezer compartment. Where is it coming from??

If you have an ice maker in there it could be that there is too much water entering the tray and the excess spills out. OR the drain that gets rid of melted ice during the auto defrost cycle could be clogged and the water stays in freezer, pools and refreezes.

The freezer isn't making alot of ice. Can the hose behind the ice maker freeze?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

When a refrigerator slows down ice production it is usually the result of poor air-flow through the evaporator coils. The poor air-flow is due to ice build up on the evaporator coils. The ice build up happens because the unit is not defrosting properly or the evaporator fan is not running at full speed.

To answer your question "Can an Ice-maker tube freeze?" Yes, they can and do freeze but when they do freeze that is caused by a defective inlet water valve that is leaking water by when it is supposed to be shut off. It can freeze if some one set the temp control to MAX cold. Additionally when they do freeze and the Ice-maker cycles the plastic hose on the back of the unit pops out of the ice maker tube and each cycle starts porting ice maker fill water on the floor.

This may sound odd.. but. Perform a manual defrost by removing the freezer contents and directing a fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. (Makes a water mess so do not leave it unattended) The return the unit to normal service and after 8 hours start watching the amount of ice produced. (Should be normal for 2 days!) If after 2 days the ice production slows again you have an automatic defrosting problem that is causing the ice build up on the evaporator coils.

If you need any more assistance please include your complete model number in any future responses.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Melting/refreezing ice in the ice makes

If the ice is the only item that appears to be melting or defrosting. I would believe the most possible issue. The icemaker is leaking intermittantly into the bin and freezing the cubes inplace.
