This happened to me and I simply called the Amazon Help Line and they walked me through it in 5 minutes ..

You need a connected tv that has an app for Netflix or buy a dvd/bluray that has connected tv apps built in. I have a Sony bluray and am able to watch netflix, amazon Prime video and youtube on my tv through this bluray

Software updates have to be done on bluray players whenever the technology in bluray discs themselve is changed. If you call the number for 20th century fox on the back of the bluray a representative there will explain to you what has changed technologically in this bluray that has caused there to be software updates for all of the bluray players. I believe LG can send you a disc so that you can update your player. Give them a call. The bluray players are all manufactured and shipped to the stores. In the meantime if an update is needed and its sitting on the shelf at the store until you buy it, even if you've just bought it an hour ago it will still need to be updated. The stores do not unbox the blu ray players and update them for you. However the Geek squad will update bluray players for customers for a fee.

I had the same issue: the answer is to plug the ethernet cable into the LG unit. It will take upto a minute to recognise. Once you have selected the movie to play, you can then remove the ethernet cable........I know it is ridiculous but it is LG

I have the same problem with the same movie you need to connect the bluray player to your modem and update the bluray to be able to watch newer blurays
