SOURCE: Spline drill bit won't spin

There a a few things to look for, first is the selector on top in the hammer only position or hammer with rotation. Second look at the spline bit, does the splines look worn excessively also try and look in the nose of the tool for spline condition and last the clutch mechanism might have come apart. Good news though this tool might be covered under warranty, some had a 5 year coverage.

SOURCE: stopped working in mid drill. squeeze the trigger, nothing happens

It could be a dirty switch connection in the trigger assembly , it happens to me on my electric sanders all the time , just open it up and try blowing it out with an air compressor

SOURCE: my milwaukee 5316 rotary hammer drill wont

Could be a couple things, do you have the selector in the rotation mode, also there is an internal clutch that might have broken or the splines on the spindle might be rounded. If it is the clutch you would have to take it in for repair, it is extremely tricky to work on. Take the bit out (make sure you are using the right bits for this tool) and look at the splines to check their condition. Let me know if I can help more

SOURCE: Hi I have a milwaukee

the new chucks are not what they should be try some penatrating oil when they get slightly rusted they tend to do what your chuck has done you will half too get 2 pipe wrenches to break it free chuck them on as you would grip them with your hands once it is free work the chuck back and forth with the penatrating oil to loosen things back to new

Vintage unlisted model Milwaukee drill with frozen chuck.

on the bench drill ( drill stand ) if you see a long slot in the shafts when you pull the drill down all the way , the you will need a tapered bit of metal that fits in that slot
Drive the metal through so that it forces the chuck assembly out of the morse taper
You can get replacement units from any good tool shop

Milwaukee drill makes noise but don't turn on outside

What model is the drill? Can you see into the drill through the cooling vents - if so, you should be able to verify that the motor is truly spinning (Armature, cool fins) or it's just making noise.

If it is spinning you most likely lost a gear from the Motor to the Chuck or the bushing that connects the Motor to the chuck (Every manufacturer is different) - Time to take the halves apart and inspect.

When using my milwaukee m18 magnum drill halfway through drilling a hole the drill stopped as if the battery were dead

Dear Chris Kelliher, Hi,
According to your explanation, i guessed that the electronic circuit for driving the motor of drill, has gone off. In such a case, the motor is either driven under variable frequency drive system, Power transistor (FET, IGBT may be used) or SCR control circuit. under the cover of drill there is an electronic circuit, which may be damaged. It should be rectified by some technical expert. here is a link of services provider, https://www1.milwaukeetool.com/PartsAndService/Repair/Default.aspx?chrome=false
If you are unable to reach the service center just download the form from the link above an fill it and shipped your part to the related company with free shipment. If you can check it personally then check it. i will guide you whatever possible. Service Milwaukee Tool

I have a Milwaukee M18 cordless drill with a bit broken off inside and the chuck won't open.

Put your drill into reverse, and hold the chuck. With luck, that will loosen the chuck and the broken bit will fall out.

How to unlock the chuck

this how to get a chuck off a drill.look inside the chuck for a screw. it will be a left handed screw.once you get the screw out put the chuck in a vice . you will need to squeeze it very tight. then put the drill in reverse and pull the trigger.if i wont come off you will need to hit the chuck with a hammer while you are holding the trigger. if you have a bit stuck in the chuck and cant get it out put the chuck in the vice and hit it very hard with a hammer until the chuck falls apart.i work on drills every day ,this is the only way we have found that works
