Smudges are most likely from the toner cartridge. If you can take your finger and run over the print and it smudges, then it is the fuser.

P-9 Replace the black developer and drum unit.

P-28 Have tech clean the IDC sensor located under the transfer belt forward section (right side of the copier) the rear one towards back of the machine right side There are two clean both

Above two codes should then fix P-21 which is the fault that registration is not right. And Since the Black Image unit is the reference for the other three color in regards to Registration that is why P-9 and P-28 need fix first.

Inks from your printhead is deposited on right side of the soft sponge across the printhead pathway. Take a tissue paper and fold it and gently dap it dry

How is the printer printing black and yellow color? Is it a smudge?

When I print, the pages are smudged with ink. What should I do?

Try reseating your Ink Cartriges first then try printing to see if the error still appears, if it does try reinstalling your printer drivers... make sure you check your printer cables if they are conencted properly to your computer after reseating the cartriges.

The black along the side of the paper is usually the black photoconductor , it also could be the fuser. If the color reg says can't be preformed it probly needs a new transfer belt. If the color reg completes and the colors still don't line up it might be the laser. It also could be dirty reg sensors.

want the answer to this we have a hp 2600n laser printer and its leaving smug of color on the paper the big wide roller where the page gets printed is smear with all the colors. Is there a way to clean this and what to use so we can fix the problem.

Maybe something attached (corrector fluid or adhesive)on drum (green cylinder - don't touch it!) or more probably the fixing film on the fusing unit is damaged (probably some paper clip left over input bin, or trying to remove a paper jam with some sharp-pointed thing) If you have some other printer like this around, try with another print cartridge, if error persist , the fuser film is damaged...
