Hello. I just purchased the Nikon Coolpix S200. I took pictures today with it and found that when I use natural light the picture turns out really grainy (I guess that's called noise?) and when I used the flash the pictures turned out fine. I hate using the flash and love using nat light. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? Or is there someway to edit the grainy pictures in the camera? Thank you.

If you can adjust the ISO sensitivity to a lower number then the graininess will be reduced.
However, by reducing the ISO, you will need a slower shutter speed and a larger aperture. A tripod, table or other support may be necessary.
The "noise reduction" setting on the camera can also be adjusted a step up.
Taking pictures at full resolution and fine compression will also help.

Overall, at least try lowering the ISO, and using the flash brighter.

This camera was in the time when the ccd had problems.

Call Nikon concerning your camera. You can send it to them, they will estimate it, and may repair it for free if it is the ccd problem.

Check the iso settring, if it's too high you'll get a grainy picture. Also, it's worth selecting reset in the camera menu to get the camera b ack to factory reset values.

lower the ISO settings to 200 or 400 specially if you are shooting in daylight.

Did you see if it is in manual focus mode? Try to switch to auto in the menu, or do a complete reset in the menu. Who knows what the last person was doing when you last used it, hehe
