Could be a drain pump issue. Either obstructed or possibly defective
Testimonial: "Thank you, Chris Huff for your quick response and suggestions as to the problem for my washer. I will begin checking out the possible issues and report back."
Would a malfunction of the drain pump cause it to stop/prevent filling...is that what you mean? And would that totally shut down the machine where it wouldn't do any other steps?
If machine senses that drain pump isn't working or is obstructed, then yes it could not advance any further. Same thing goes for water valve letting water into machine, that could also be defective or stopped up. Also make sure door is locking.
How do I check the drain pump for obstructions and how do I test the water inlet valve? With your help I will try to check those items aforementioned. The debate around here is cost of replacement parts versus age of machine...manuf in 2005? UGH Drain pump & water valve=$90 each
There should be a screw out filter on pump. Pump is most likely located behind front bottom toe panel.
Thank you so much...we will begin checking out each possible cause.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Gallery washer is flooding the house
Try turning water faucets off. Does it still flood when done? Does your drain hose empty into stand pipe that is at least 30 inches from floor? Make sure drain hose does not go anymore than a few inches into pipe. If it is pushed too far in, unit can syphon water back into unit.

That is not the solution.
Start the machine and immediatly press the "Start" and "Pause/cancel" button at the same time. Then you will get and ERROR code. Look on the cheat sheet packed with the machine to find out what is really wrong. That will give you the real answer.
