How do i get verbal direction on my tomtom gps

It may be possible that the new card you purchased (assuming it is for a new map) is for a map (version) that is compatible for your TomTom GPS. (It may be more helpful if you indicate the card/map and your TomTom GPS model) If you had purchased the card from TomTom ... contact TomTom for help.

Often, it is easier to buy a new map directly from the tomtom.com website . That way you'll get the "right" map for your TomTom model. After you pay for it, you download the map directly into your GPS (using the HOME application) and activate it. If you have any problem, you can contact TomTom right away and they'll help you to get it done right.

Tomtom GPS devices come with a variety of windshield suction mounts. All have in common that the windshield and the suction cup both must be clean; use a mild soap dispersed in some warm water to remove any dirt. Rinse properly. Sometimes it helps to keep the cup a little moist.

Make sure the cup is not warped due to previous exposure to heat, and check for any nicks in the rubber. Small damage may easily make the mount unusable and you'd need to get a replacement.

Models with a lever mechanic: open the lever (cup becomes flat), press the cup against the windshield and while keeping pressure, close the lever. It will lift the middle of the cup away from the windshield, causing a vacuum.

Models with a ring around the cup base: Turn the ring all the way counter-clockwise (cup becomes flat), press cup against windshield and while keeping pressure, turn the ring clockwise 90 degrees. This requires some force, but in my experience these mounts stick more reliable,

You will need to send it to Tomtom - I would not mention I hooked it direct to a 12 volt source.

If you go to Preferences and click once, then click the arrow until you come too a pair of lips i think, click this only if it has Not got a cross through it, if it has then the unit has a problem

tomtom home is located on your computer after you download it from tomtom...you can get it here just pick your operating system from the list.

after you download it and install it, just follow the directions and tomtom home will do the rest.

Hello megbert, I own a TomTom also. I have listed the procedures from TomTom Home and hope this will work. First try a soft reset (Reset button is located at the bottom of the TomTom device next to where the DC plug plugs in). Make sure your batteries are fully charged up or the USB cord is plugged in.

If your device is not starting up properly, follow the steps below: 

1. Soft reset your device. *
   
   
2. If your device still does not start up, then reinstall the TomTom application using HOME. 
   

If you have backed up your TomTom to your computer, then you can reinstall the TomTom application from your backed up data. *    In rare cases, your TomTom device may not start correctly or may stop responding. If this happens, try resetting your device. A reset does not delete any data.

Phone your email service provider, and verify your identity verbally - they'll reset the password for you after confirming your address.
