Put a solution of 10% vinegar in it and try to flush the system out.... probably that circuit, which pushes a shot of water into the heating coils, is plugged.... if REALLY plugged, you may be looking for a new iron since passage of water with the vinegar is necessary to dissolve the clog to a great degree...

If you are having steam problems then the cartridge needs changing.
I phoned them (0161 652 1211) and they do sell the cartridge for £5.99 including delivery but are out of stock for a couple of weeks. You have to send them a cheque or postal orders. Good luck.
Send Cheque for £5.99 for each cartridge with note of model etc.

Maintenance and repair tools you'll need to fix an electric iron include these:
you will need a speacial tool screw driver
also called as g5 screw driver to open it.available at local repair store.
If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet, check the electrical cord, and check the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide) and replace if necessary.
If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide).
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle (see below).
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

Sounds like the Steam control valve is blocked or not opening. try cleaning the iron with a kit from wallmart or similar store. Failing that :It may be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.
SOURCE: blinks and doesn't heat.
Could be a loose connection or a damaged cable. Try gently moving the cable and see if it starts to blink etc?
How old is it? Is it still in warranty Guarantee? If it is, take it back to where you bought it from and they should repair it or replace it.
Failing that you may have to buy a new one. Wallmart or similar have cheap electrical appliances
