When pressing the shutter button...

For a couple of days my camera stopped working. Everything works fine before taking a pic, cans se everything on the display, when pressing the shutter button half way it focuses and locks it, but when pressing the shutter button fully down nothing happens. Tried to switch on the timer function on it but it won't start either because nothing happens when pusing the shutter button all the way down.
The camera is now 3,5 years old so no warranty left...
Anyone have any ideas about how to fix it?

I have the same problem. All activates fine (focus, LCD, menus, replay)but shutter won't activate, flash ready lights ok but no flash. must be a shutter problem. I've switched memory cards, batteries, chargers, tested all the other functions. Will replay images. Everything but take the picture.

I have the same problem but my model is ex-z500. How come their shutter button is so easy to be broken? Is it because of the charging process? I can feel some electricity when I touch the surface of the camera while charging, seems dangerous...

If you cannot find a solution to your problem you may want to email [email protected]. He has good advice and good used parts at a fair price.

Camera shuts off when shutter button is pressed.

I'd try replacing the battery first. It is common for a low power battery to not allow the camera's computer to read what it is supposed to do correctly. If the new fully charged battery doesn't fix it, I'd then contact customer service.

Shutter button wont work

Something has bent or come a drift, not something you can fix yourself, take to camera repair shop for repair , first get a quote as repair may cast as much as a new camera .

When I turn on my Canon PC 1130 to take a picture, the lcd screen and view finder just show a black screen. Camera is working fine in the play mode. Please help.

Set the camera in TV mode, (delayed shutter mode) set the shutter at 15 sec, click to take a picture and during that 15 secs (like, after 7 seconds) open the battery compartment which cuts contact with the battery circuit. Close the battery cover. At this point the camera works fine ... but only temporarily.... Here is the key to the permanent fix. While the camera is working via the temporary fix, take many, many pictures. Hundreds! I probably snapped 400-600 pics. The idea is to wear down the little patches of hardened oil on the shutter blades. For the next three days I took hundreds of pics each day. Basically, I just aimed the camera at the wall or whatever and snapped off several hundred pics.

D50 won't take a picture!

I was having the same problem.. And since I could not afford to take it to the shop, I tried everything I could think of...
Then I fixed it!!
It seems that the slide door behind the shutter was stuck for some reason... If you remove the lens.. (make sure the camera is in manual mode)... snap a shot so the shutter is up.. then gently slide the panel in the back down....
Once I did that.. the camera was working again.... Hope this easy solution works for you guys....

Shutter problem

I have an Optio 330 too. Have had it since Feb 2002 (second owner) and taken over 5000 shots. I experienced something similar earlier this year: when i pressed the "on" button, the lens would extend, then there would be a jarring noise, the lens retracts, and the camera switches off. The camera couldnt work at all. I almost sent it in for servicing after a few days. However, I gave its base a firm bang squarely onto a thick floor rug. That solved it! The problem recurred one month later, i did the same thing, and it solved the problem again. Overall, the Optio is quite hardy, though it can get cranky with age. Hope it works for you.
