My Samsung surround sound will only work with HD channels on my Humax 1100s. Any advice please.

There are 5 speakers and a sub. 4 speakers worked initially but then nothing with SD. Unsure if I have accidentally pressed something, but have tried everything I can think of. This is a brand new Humax purchased today. Thank you Claire

SOURCE: HOW TO CONNECT SUB WOOFER IN 4CH CAR AMP

sounds like you need another amp, if the amp has a speaker already connected to each channel, you have no open channel to connect a sub-woofer.
Some years ago I seen an amplifier that was designed to use 3 speakers on 2 channels. what they did was had a speaker on each channel and then they bridged the 3rd speaker across it. That amplifier was designed for this configuration, unless you have an amplifier like that you should not try it. It may result in smoke from the amp.

SOURCE: No sound from Creative Labs Speakers- Please help

to localised your problem, try to plug your speakers to other sound source like mp3 player ,stereo system. if still no sound coming from it,your problem is within the speaker system. perhaps the audio power amplifier ic inside, need to be replaced.

SOURCE: trying to get surround sound speakers to work with TV

They come with 3 x 3.5mm stereo to 2 x RCA phono cables, so are obviously meant for plugging in to the back of a PC with 6ch output.

BTW - they're ****.

I should've known for £29....

SOURCE: No sound output from Center and Surround speakers

the only time the center and surround speakers put out sound is when it has a surround sound source such as a dvd etc. and only certain sounds come from them as well.

I need to know the quality of the speakers on the TV. Try unplugging it from the speakers on the TV and plug it into the souround sound speakers only and see if it plays differently. Double check your sourround sound and makes sure you did not reverse a wire.

Lux Audio 5.1 home theater speaker & Yamaha HTR 5540 AMP

configure ur PC (both OS audio and third party sound driver) for surround sounds. control panel- sounds and audio devices - speaker settings - advanced - speker settings. so this done. make sure u select the 6 input channel - the button is on the right edge near the volume knob. near the vol button there are two buttons for selecting input type with up down arrow. from that u can select the input type this will be indicated on the top front indicator. but with the 6 input channel selected all selections are preceeded. if u select stereo mode u will have left/ right audio only.
make sure u connect the input right. connect from computer to 6 channel input. main, surround, center and sub-woofer.  connect the spekers to main (L/R), rear(surround) (L/R), center and sub woofer to terminal marked sub woofer ouput. this done select like i said before the 6 channel button. that should do it.

Pioneer receiver vsx-d510 sub not working

Rear Surrounds are not supported on this unit, they would be the 6th and 7th channels in a 7.1 rig. I think you mean Surrounds (channels 4 and 5 in a 5.1 rig).

Lets ponder: How is there any relationship between Surrounds and your separately-amplified Subwoofer? I don't see it, unless you inadvertently chose OFF for the Sub definition when you were in the Speaker selection menus adding the Surrounds. Look again.

The surround sound only plays on dvd not tv

most tv shows will only be broadcast in 2.0 not 5.1 or higher. if you have a converter box, that may also be the problem.

Garbled / feedback sounds from powered subwoofer

The surround processing portion of the unit has a problem. In either stereo or direct mode, the digital procesing is bypassed. This could be just the surround processing IC, but that IC may not be available as a separate part. I would suggest that you bring this unit to an authorized Onkyo service center for an estimate.

Can n ot get rear surrround speakers to work

On this reciever you have rear surround and rear back spkrs, if your using the surr back they have to be assigned if unassigned in the settings. If using rear surr spkrs change your surr field to 5ch stereo and your rear speakers will work.
There is no 7.5 unless you have 5 subs the 7 is the total number of speakers and the .1 is the number of subs in the system

Sound from 4 speakers cut off..

To troubleshoot a speaker system where sound is not issuing from all speakers, please do the following:
  1. Verify that all cables are plugged in correctly. Make sure the rear and/or center/sub audio cable is plugged in to the correct port. On most surround sound cards, the rear audio port is black, the front audio port is green, and the center/sub audio port is orange. If you do not have a surround sound card, make sure you obtain the proper adapter (discussed in the next paragraph) or use surround sound emulation if your speaker system offers it. If you are not sure if you have a surround sound card, please check with the manufacturer of your sound card for details.
  2. Make sure your sound card supports the same amount of channels as your speaker system contains. For 4.1 systems, it should have a front and rear speaker jack on the card. For 5.1 systems, the card should have a front, rear, and center/sub, output. The card should be properly installed and configured. Please contact your sound card manufacturer for details. If you do not have a surround sound capable sound card, you can use the source selector switch or the M3D button on the controller unit (if available). You can also use an adapter to split the signal for the front and rear speakers. This type of adapter is a 3.5mm male to 2-3.5mm female jacks. You can purchase this adapter at your local electronic store. Please refer to your manual if you do not know if your speaker system can emulate surround sound.
  3. Try connecting the speakers to a portable sound device such as a walkman or portable CD player. Plug the speakers into the headphone jack, but make sure the volume is lowered so the speakers are not over powered. You can do this for both the front, rear, center/sub speakers to verify that they work. If the speaker system works on the walkman, then you are experiencing a configuration issue with your sound card. Please contact your sound card manufacturer.
  4. Check the system Volume Control located in the System tray. Make sure that the volumes are at a reasonable level and are not checked for Muting.

4 speakers with games

For the rear surround speakers to work, the sound must be encoded in surround sound, and most games, if any, are not. The amp doesn't 'see' and information encoded in the sound signal for the rear speakers, therefore you get no sound.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice.
Thank you, and good luck!!
