Ice makers spray cold water upward into cube shaped trays that freeze the water almost instantly upon contact . Then when you press the ice dispenser a heater comes on that releases the ice cubes from the metal trays. If it is very old replacement probably a good option.

SOURCE: Ice Maker too slow

bayfishr, I'll try to give you an idea on how this thing works and let you do some checks. The cycle is controlled by temp. The harvesting process begins when the IM thermostat closes signaling the harvest temp has been reached. The closed thermostat supplies power to the IM motor and heater. Therefore the colder you keep it, the faster the production unless something has failed. I see a lot of heaters fail. You can test this. When the IM starts it cycle, test the voltage from L to H on the module, they will be marked. Should read 120V. The heater on the bottom of the mold should be getting hot. Disconnect the harnes and ohm it. Should ohm out at approx 72 ohms, same test points. If this checks good, check the center wheel on the module itself. Two clips keep the wheel in place. If one is cracked off, the IM will not fucntion properly. Other than colder temps, there is no way to adjust the speed of the cycle. Keep the flap in front of the ice-maker down so that the cold air is drawn across that IM. Catriver.

SOURCE: ice maker not making ice fast enough

Hi!!! Also make sure that your freezer section is bet'w 5 to 10 degrees if not then you have a frig problem..If you have 10 degrees or so then you have an icemaker thermostat control problem. You have to buy another icemaker unless you can replace the icemaker thermostat inside of it..Good luck..

SOURCE: The flap on the ice despenser is not closing and

If you can look up and see the flap is loose or sloppy, you need one of these two kits. Kit # 8201649 is the chute door, door bracket, spring, damper pot.
Kit # 8201756 contains all the above plus a metal bracket designed to replace the housing bracket, the door pivot pin and a metal brace.

RFG297AARS ICE MAKER SOUNDS AS IF A BALL IS DROPPED AND AT FIRST A LARGE DROP AND GETS SOFTER AND THEN STOPS. IT DOES IT EVERY NOW AND THEN BUT IS GETTING LOUDER. ICE BOX WORKS FINE TO LOUD.

My ice maker does the same thing when ice bucket get empty. The new Ice is dropping on the bottom of Ice bucket, as it fills up the sound goes away. Found a manual but one suggestion from it is turn the freezer temperature down a little more. What empties my ice bucket is it has a lever over ice and when the bucket fills up it will push the lever up and shut ice maker off. On mine I have to pull the lever back down to start the Ice maker. For some reason your ice maker is letting the ice bucket empty before making new ice.

My ice maker doesn't make enough ice cubes

Is the ice maker itself filling normally, meaning where the cubes are made gets enough water to cover the complete area or just a few slots? If not then check the fill tube where the water comes into the ice maker to make sure no ice has formed blocking the water from coming in.
Now if ice production in general has slowed, going from every 45 minutes or so to like every 6 hours, then your machine more than likely isn't getting cold enough. The ice maker requires the temperature be at least 10 degrees F or below for it to function properly.

Whirlpool Ice maker4 issue

Sounds like the optics are bad part # 4389102 this model(if we have the right model#)has two optics boards one receiver one emitter on either side of the door opening which shoot a beam from one to the other through the opening in each side of the bin,as long as nothing blocks that beam and the freezer is cold enough to chill the thermostat to temp in the icemaker, then it should be dumping ice.

GE TFH27PRSA ice maker water fill tube and receving bucket on ice maker keeps freezing closed. No other problem with unit including water despenser to door. Once the tube freezes closed, water is leaking...

all is normal with the defrost heater getting red hot.

as far as the inlet tube freezing, you most likely need a new water inlet valve. it may not be closing all the way and water is slowly dripping into the icemaker and freezing up right away. a new valve should fix your issue. here is the part that you need. http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-TFH27PRSA-%3d%3di1032629&PartID=1032629

Make sure that the bucket is pushed in all the way. If the motor is running the screw should be turning. I would also take the bucket out and try to turn the auger by hand to make sure it is turning free.

Why is my refrigerator leaking water inside

It sounds like the flap in the door for the ice despenser is missing or is sticking open. The room temperature will lower the temp in the ice bucket enough to partially melt that ice, OR cause a LOT of condensation that may freeze or re-freeze.
