Your wireless router has a tiny pinhole somewhere on the rear panel or on one end. It should be labeled "Reset". Bend open a paperclip, push the pointy end of the paperclip firmly into the pinhole and hold it there for 10 or 15 seconds. This will reset the wi-fi router to its default settings. Now, you can set up a fresh password on the router and sign in using the new password on your computer.
If your wi-fi router is supplied by your internet service provider (they may call it a "gateway") then you can ask their tech support for advice in resolving the issue.

If you have tried the default passwords (blank, admin or sysAdmin) and they don't work, you will need to reset it back to factory settings. You can do this by finding a hole at the back of the unit and pressing the hidden switch there for a few seconds. After that it should be back to its original configuration. You will obviously have lost any changes you made to it since you took it out of the box.

You will be asked for a password only if you are connecting to a password protected WiFi network. You can set a password for your Home WiFi modem and after that you have to enter the password whenever you try to connect.
