I have a computer with HDMI output and my Scenium has HDMI input but I get no picture when I play movies on my HP 9700 computer that I would like to have displayed on my RCA Scenium. All connections seem complete. Am I attempting the impossible?

(No longer listed on Amazon.) The most likely reason for no display is not matching the scan rates. Your TV is either 1080i (1920x1080x30) HxVxrate or 720p (1280x720x60) high definition. That's its native display but it may accept both but not 1080p. The computer must be set to one of those. The TV will not accommodate, well it may accept 480i or 480p (720x480x30 or 60) for standard definition and that could be 640x480. Go to your computer display controls and see which resolutions are available and it may be different in mirrored versus extended mode. If the signal comes from a TV DVI source and is converted to HDMI, it will not include sound. There may also be a problem with copy protection (HDCP) as your computer may be fussier than the TV. -Ken

When your notebook computer is connected to an HDMI device, you may encounter certain display and sound issues. For example, if you have your notebook computer connected to an LCD TV and/or surround sound speakers with a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cable as part of a home theater system, you may encounter some common HDMI display and/or sound issues such as the following: If you are experiencing one of the following issues, click the link to go directly to a section of this document for a resolution. Why does my hp pavillion 9700 not have HDMI input?

Are you sure you mean an input? If it's a laptop, it shouldn't have any video inputs. The pavilion 9700 has the same shell as a few other pavilions, but the 9700 was never designed with an HDMI port.

How can i watch movies from computer to my tv

You probably need to get a composite video output card for your computer. Actually, I've seen many cards that have both a composite video output AND a DVI output port on 1 card. The DVI output will give you a noticeably sharper picture than composite video, but you need to check if your TV has a DVI or HDMI input. (If it was manufactured after 2000, it probably does.) If you TV was manufactured after 2006, it probably has 1 or more HDMI inputs instead of DVI. You can buy a DVI to HDMI converter cable. That takes care of the picture; to get sound to the TV, you will need to connect separate sound cables to your TV. Your computer needs to have a line-level output jack on it's sound card, and you will need to get an adapter cable (from Radio Shack) to convert the stereo mini-plug to 2 RCA type plugs to plug into your TV. And that should do it!

No longer getting video feed through Home Theatre receiver

HDMI ports 5 and 6 on the back of tv no longer are working. (We had a series of thunder storms so don't know if that is how they got damaged or if it was something else) but moved HDMI input cable to HDMI port 4 on tv and everything is working again. Service call placed for warranty service on tv to repair bad ports.
