It seems like your heating element is broken and needs replacing you will need an engineer to do this its very complicated not for the normal guy eric

SOURCE: Washer emitting burning smell and smoke on fast spin

Yes, the heating element is coming on when it shouldn't. A likely cause is the pressure pot (Level sensor sender unit) being blocked with sludge. You'll find this under the machine, either screwed to the RH side of the tub, near to the front of the machine secured by three Philips screws, or attached to the side of the big hose that goes from the tub to the pump, secured by a Jubilee clip, underneath the machine. disconnect the power and remove the pressure pot, in both cases it's a long rigid white plastic tube, from one end of which comes a narrow flexible plastic hose which goes up to the top of the cabinet and is attached to the pressure switch itself. This tube is likely to have a load of muck in it, as its bottom end. Clean this out, and if your element didn't burn out, then everything should now be fine.

SOURCE: Smoke smell coming from my 80 series Washer

do you actually see smoke or is it you have a burning smell
if you have a smell the motor may be overloading on spin
sometimes this is due to too much soap powder in wash
and when machine spins the water cant get away due to soap suds under and around bowl
acts like a brake on motor
try no soap powder in next wash
a good way to tell is that you still have soap in washing if you lift the lid (with no soap powder added)

SOURCE: smoke coming from back of

You may have overloaded the washer and the belt drive system could not handle that excess mass.. The smoke and burning smell is a belt melting while trying to rotate the drum.. I would unload it .. gain access to the drive mechanism ( probably via an access panel in the back but may not be.. - brand and model specific).. and then check for damage to the drive belt.. You may look at the pulley system and look for burnt black from melted belt on it.. You could also have a clog in your pump that the belt drives but can't ( because of that clog) and therefore the belt rubs over the pump pulley and melts.. Could be any one of those things.. Hope that helps..

SOURCE: Frigidaire FWS833AS1 - My washing machine recently

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The smell might be due to burning of lid switch. If the washer isn't spinning then it might be dueto a Lid switch or due to a bad motor coupler. You can check for the lid switch& replace it--

First unplug the washing machine. Then remove the two screws that hold the top consolein place; these are located in back of the main console (where the dials are).Once removed, the entire console swivels back, exposing the wiresunderneath.

After this unplug the wiring harness that is connected to the washing machinetop flat surface. Now remove the two s-shaped brackets with a screwdriver byprying underneath. This will allow you to remove the main sheet metal framearound the washing machine. The lid switch assembly is located under the topconsole. Now, remove it and replace with the new assembly and put it backtogether.

Please look this schematicfor lid switch location(part # 50)--

You can buy the lid switch from this link--

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

My washer was smoking during the spin cycle what could the problem be.

hi Bill.
The pump may be belt driven, motor driven or have its own electric motor. A burning smell coming from the washing machine during or after the spin cycle can indicate that the drain pump has become seized, preventing it from turning.

Maytag atlantis series mav6200aww, there was a burning rubbery smell today when it was in the spin cycle. I turned it off and unplugged it what could it be

could be a belt and or the pulleys under the machine are plastic so one of them could have melted along with the belt smoking. could be something in pump or look in washer and see if there mite be a nail or something like a nail in one of the little holes in the inner tub . the nail could be making the machine not spin and could be causing the belt also to smoke.

Trouble with washing machine

This could be a broken belt. It sounds like something jammed the machine and the belt kept turning until it burned and broke.
