I was washing pillows and water just overflowed - I'm not sure from where. I think the bottom of the machine. Just a little bit of water. Did I ruin the motor?

If you let the tub fill, then put the pillows in, you may have caused the water level to overflow the outer tub somewhat. If you didn't smell smoke or hear any frying sounds, the motor is probably ok. Does the washer seem to operating normally?

The care instructions have faded off the tag on my isotonic indulgence pillow. I need to wash pillow. can you instruct. thanks

My pillow has its tag, which does not contain washing instructions. The description on Amazon says the removable pillow cover is washable. I take that to mean the pillow itself should not be washed.

Our central vac has no suction. I think the filter may have been damp when I reinstalled it after washing! Have I ruined the motor?

I don't think that you have "ruined" the motor. however, you should go to the unit and take the bucket off of the machine and let the motor underside dry out when your not using the unit. Just keep an ear out for the machine next time you start it up for any funny noises.

those motors are pretty good at taking a little bit of water, damn filter and all, I just don't recommend that you take the filter from the sink to the vacuum tho.

Also, you may want to consider buying a second filter for that unit so that you can wash and let one dry while you put the other dry filter into the unit and rotate them.

Good luck,
Mark.

Problem washing pillows. They get full of water and washer won't spin the water out.

You can remove the pillows and squeeze most of the water out and then put them back in to spin the rest. Washers weren't really made to wash pillows and pillows werent really made to be washed in a washer. Get new pillows and put hypoallergenic covers to keep the funk out. Wash the covers as necessary.
Alternatively heating and tumbling them in the dryer might get rid of whatever aspect you were trying to neutralize or wash out of the pillows.

My machine makes pin size holes in thin t-shirts and not other clothes. It has ruined several new shirts-help!

It's a nasty twisty thing, my dear. It happens in just about every machine. The only thing you can do to be absolutely sure is to put those thin t-shirts in a pillow case, Strap it closed with one of those "what's those hand-cuffy things called" things? and pray you don't get small pin-sized holes in your pillow case.

Washing machine overflows

sorry in advance for the lack of appropriate terminology. my "solution" comes from a mother with no mechanical experience point of view.

i had the same problem with my washing machine overflowing. I opened up my machine, found the clear hose that went from this little square box on the side of the tub up to the switch for the "load size" knob. i pulled the hose off the square box and saw that there was a piece of paper in it. i pulled it out, scraped the scum out and reconnected it. started the machine. - that didn't work.

so, I got the thinnest pipe cleaner i could find pulled the tube from the little box, and stuck the pipe clearner down the pipe of the little square box. pulled out a bit of scummy lint, then I blew in the tubing. I heard a "click", I thought.. okay maybe that's it. reconnected everything, started my machine.. and now it works :)

This probably wasn't the proper thing to do, but it worked and saved me from the cut throat washing machine mechanics in this area.
