SOURCE: My g1 has safe mode on the botton of the left
I just had the same problem. I had turned on my phone in the usual way and once it loaded I noticed it was in safe mode. This was not something I had told the phone to do. 1st I unplugged the phone from the charger. 2nd I removed the back cover and the battery. 3rd I held down the power key for 15 seconds. 4th I reinstalled the battery and back cover. And finally I turned the phone back on. NOTE: my phone started up and then restarted itself as soon as it was done loading. Now everything appears to be working correctly and efficiently.

SOURCE: Black screen on start up
Hi,
The problem is corrupt graphic/video drivers.
Boot the machine into safe mode by restarting the computer and repeatedly press the F8 key as it starts. This should bring up a sub menu with safe mode at the top. Use the cursor keys to highlight safe mode and press enter.
You will see white boot information scroll up the screen, be patient and wait for it to load up.
Click
on your account and you will see a message about system restore. You
don't want to use system restore so click on yes to work in safe mode.
Right click on My Computer/Computer and click on manage from the list. Then select Device Manager.
Look
in the list for display adapters and click on the + or > next to to
it to expand the list. Right click on the display adapter and select
uninstall.
Restart the computer and it should load up the operating system and reinstall the drivers for the display.
Good luck and if you need anymore help please post back.

Hello
When your Advent laptop isn't booting properly, you probably have a problem with your startup disk. When the startup disk is acting up you may take it to a repair shop, or you may save a lot of money and fix it yourself. Windows 7 computers come with built-in software that will allow you to repair your startup disk in just a couple of minutes.
Start your computer and press down on the "F8" key. Click on the "Repair your computer" option in the "Advanced Boot Options" menu that appears on the screen.
Press the "Enter" key.Choose your keyboard layout on the next screen and click the "Next" button.
Click on the "Startup Repair" tool in the "System Recovery Options" screen.
Wait for the computer to repair the start-up disk
