Remove the drum unit and empty out waste toner there are 2 covers 1 on each side use small screwdriver to pry off covers

C-7980 - Means that the waste tonerresevoir in the process unit is full with less than 100,000 copies onthe unit.
Clean/ empty the waster toner and vac.Also clean the sensor.
You may have to change the Process unit if cleaning does not work.

The toner waste container on this model is not designed to be cleaned out by the user. It is located on the Drum assy. If you did want to clean it you would first have to open the main cover (like you were going to add a new toner cart.) Remove the Developer unit (the one the toner is attached too). Then to remove the drum assy grab it by the two green handles and pull it out. The part that faces the back of the unit is were the toner is stored if you remove one of the sides you might be able to get the toner out. Be very careful do not use a vacuum unless you have a filter that can filter as small as .03 microns. The toner is main reason this is not recommended because its so small and not good for your health. The drum assy is rated for 100k copies. Usaully last about 70k to 80k before the message you got comes up.
