You didn't mention the model of the set so I'm somewhat guessing as to the type of set it is. When you say a faint picture is it lacking brightness or washed out?

Your problem is inside the TV - probably the video driver board or components of it. You also could have a dead fluorescent tube - that is the part that illuminates the screen. LCD displays require a light source. If this is an LED TV then you need a video driver board inside the back of the TV - if you don't know what you are doing, DO NOT OPEN THE BACK OF ANY TV. Take it to a repair shop. If it is under warranty, turn it in for service.

Sound to me like your video amp failed on the C board. This board connects directly to the back of the CRT tube. It actually has the letter C on it. The video amp is IC702, PN: TDA6108JF. You can locate a vendor for the part by googling the provided PN. This amp is fairly cheap and not too difficult to replace if you can use a soldering iron. However, you must apply heatsink compound or it will over heat and fail more quickly. You should be able to get a tube from the same vendor as the amp. I hope this was helpful, best wishes.

I do not have a solution but I have the same situation with my tv

most LG have a "vacation switch" on the bottom right hand side of the set very near that standby light.
it is placed poorly, where you can accidently click when grabbing the TV to move it or swivel it.
it is a toggle switch, a "master power" switch.
you may have bumped it to the off position. flip the switch, your standby light will come back on.
The set will need to be professionally diagnosed. There could be a # of things causing your problem. Playing the guessing game can get quite expensive.
