SOURCE: My Hunter fan will only switch from high to low speed and won't

if the three speed switch is functioning the middle speed winding is bad.  Either replace the fan or hook up a wall speed control and keep the fan on high.

SOURCE: hunter speed control problem

I have the exact same problem. Called Hunter's tech support and they confirmed the capacitor must be bad. This is the black box that has 4 wires going to the switch. They are sending me a new one for under $12. I haven't received it yet, but the wires from it going to the switch can be removed from the switch by shoving a paper clip along side the wire, this'll release the spring clip holding the wire in. Not sure, but I may have to cut and wire nut any wires that go elsewhere.

I recommend you call them too and as long as you have the 5 digit model number (usually on top of fan) they should be able to get you what you need.

P.S. it is highly unlikely that it is in the switch. I tried replacing it with one from Home Depot and I actually got Low-Off-High, which is worse. The Hunter tech support guy said you can't use after market switches with their fans.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling fan is stuck on high speed

If it has a chain, buy a light dimmer switch so it will not have 1 speed anymore. If it has a remote control, buy a new remote control like your old one. Try different numbers on remote control.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling fan-just installed -possible speed control problem

Sounds like the fan is defective. All internal wiring from the switch to the motor is factory installed. The fan has power going to it. Just to make sure, double check the wiring from the ceiling fixture to the fan.
Problem could be a faulty switch on the fan or faulty motor(bad winding for med. speed). Try reverse switch on the fan to operate the opposite direction and see if medium speed works. If medium does work in opposite direction, it pretty much points to a defective fan. In any case, unless you discover that the ceiling wires were reversed going into the fan, I'd say new fan to the returns dept.

You installed the 27186 to control an existing fan? It's a three speed pull chain fan? Yes and yes,, the fan pull chain must be in high speed.

Did you make sure the fan speed switch is set on high? Also, double check the remote wiring to make sure the fan wire is not disconnected. There's no such model # for hunter as 9308R!

Intertherm furnace model m3rl060abw blower makes high pitched whine when running. why? how can i fix it?

not familiar with that specific model, but if it's high pitched, it is likely the induced air blower causing it. sometimes it is possible to disassemble the motor and clean and lubricate it, but the repair that most service personell will do is to replace the motor. often it comes as an assembly which includes the motor and fan.it's the easiest, longest lasting, and quickest solution.
it is possible that it is the circulating blower with a seized bearing causing the whine. if so, the bearings (and shaft) can be replaced.

I just installed a Hunter five minute fan which says it is called the augusta. I have also installed several other hunter fans in my house through the years, and they seem to move extremely fast especially...

Speed is not a factor in moving air. You can move air with a little fan that runs real fast or you can move the same amount of air with a big fan that moves slow.

It is the pitch of the blades that moves air. Big blades with steep pitch moving slow are comparable to little blades with shallow pitch that move fast.

It seems to me someone is trying to baffel you with bull**** when they tell you CFM = watts or something similar.

The real question is, is the fan moving the air necessary to achieve the result you desire? If yes, speed is not really a factor.

Let me know if this helps you.

52 inch hunter ceiling fan with remote, making clicking noise

does the fan wobble at high speed? if so change the order of the blades to try & balance it.i.e. number the blades on a piece of tape on each--switch blade # 1 & #3-better or worse? 2&5;better or worse?etc. untill it runs smoothest.

Sony Trinitron KV-19TS20 Screen displays purple static or awful image.

This unit needs a tuner. A new one from Sony will run over $70, so I doubt that it is worth it. It is possible that poor ground connections could cause something like this, but the symptoms seem a bit too severe. I think it is time to invest in a newer set.
