Have 50 inch Insignia Led TV. Model# NS 50D40SNA14. Have sound and can faintly see picture. Replaced T-con board but that apparently is not the problem. Any Ideas?

Looks as though backlights are working but when I try to adjust backlight through menu, It will only allow it to a max of 50 not 100 as the other features such as brightness, contrast etc.

LEDs are lights there are no backlights, so either the leds aren't getting enough juice or they themselves are toast.

SOURCE: I have an insignia NS-LCD37HD that has backlight

Chec to see if you are getting 12vdc at the T-CON board power input pin first.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Its 100% sure that the source of the problem is the backlight inverter board. The fact that there is no backlight confirms this. You will need to replace the backlight inverter board to resolve this problem. If you can get me the part number off the same I can find you a replacement

Shine a flashlight on the screen while the TV is on. If you see movement then the Inverters are gone. If you don't get a dim picture then the T-con board is bad. You can get parts here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

Do the flashlight test and if you see a faint picture the backlights are not working replace either the led backlights or T-con board, If no picture replace the main board.

Having Back light issue with Insignia TV model NS-50D40SNA14. Can see picture faintly in darkened room and have sound.

Are you sure your meter is accurate? Chances are the set wouldn't power up at all with only 4 volt standby, as it takes 5 volts for the processor to work that turns the set on. Try testing the meter on a car battery and see if you get about 12.5 volts without it running

usually bad power supply, Where did you source your part? return/exchange it. Bad LEDs/ possible but not as likely, Tcon working if you can see images with flashlight. You must also have backlight on signal from main board ,check for 3 to 5v on labeled connecter on power supply. UPDATE---47" & 50" LN series. This model has had LED problems if your TV acts as described by Mr. Hughes in is answer to this problem you have bad LEDs

TV has sound but no picture

if just a white screen it could be a bad t-con board, if totally black problem in the inverter board or the screen back light itself was defective.
