I am in need of a replacement battery for my Literati eBook reader. Can you help me and also with instructiuns for replacement. Thank you in aadvance. Herb

Unfortunately, the owner's manual has a warning on page 6 that you are not to attempt to remove the battery, and that there are no user serviceable parts, It also states that the battery cannot be removed. That said, some people will try anyway. Just remember if you do that, you void any warranties on the unit. You can call their tech support at 866-204-4714 for more information. Or, you can go to http://www.LiteratiReader.com/support for more details.

My literati wont turn on even if i push the reset button on the back. the battery was fully charged when i turned it off, and when i tried to turn it back on to read nothing happens.

Hm. Not sure how much help I'll be, but I'll give it a shot.
- Make sure the device is charged for at least 6 hours if this is its first use. If it isn't, charge it for several hours anyway and try it again. Make sure the charger is plugged all the way into the outlet and all the way into the device (mine sticks out about an eighth of an inch, yours might too). - Call customer service at 866-204-4714 and describe the issue. I had something a little like this issue (I was stuck at "Literati" screen) and they said to drain the battery and recharge it fully to see if it made any difference, and that if it didn't work they'll be sending along a package to ship it back to them for a replacement. If nothing works, ship it back to them for a replacement.

Literati is frozen on the first screen. Won't respond and none of the keys are responding. It WILL turn on and off however. It happened with the 1.9 update. What do we do now?

Hey julesjer, I have this issue as well. After exhausting my options, customer service is now sending out a package for me to return my Literati for a replacement. I was advised to drain the battery and recharge it fully to see if that makes any difference, which I'm in the process of doing right now. Hope either of these options may help.
I've copied and pasted this answer to other similar problem threads on this site regarding the Literati. The only other option I can think of is holding down the reset button (pinhole in the back) with a paperclip for at least a full minute, as per the recommendation by someone else' problem response on Fixya. Hope this helps in some way!

My literati, barely a month old, froze up while reading. It now won't turn off and has vertical lines all down the screen. please help!

In cases like this ... the best advice is reboot. You say it will not turn off. Have you held the power button down for as long as 2 minutes? Give this a try. Why not, it is free to do this! Next, if you have access to the battery compartment, open it and remove the battery. Wait five minutes or more then return the battery to the battery compartment and secure. MAKE SURE IT IS IN PROPERLY! Power your device back on to see what happens.

If it is still the same, the only thing you can do is contact the vendor or manufacturer. Being just over one month old, there must be some type warranty on it. If it were me, I believe I would take it to the vendor to see what they can do ... look very sad when you go. If they give you any grief, make some noise.

I think if you can do as I suggest, your device will return to its normal operation.

Thanks for your interest in FixYa.com today and good luck with your device.

How do you know when your literati is charging

In the upper left hand corner of your Literati there dispalys a battery looking icon. In this icon will display a cable plug once you connect the charging cable.

I just got the Literati. I am not able to pick up any Wi-Fi at my home, or even using my Droid as a Hotspot. I installed all the desktop software, thinking I might be able to just buy and download...

We solved this issue by turning off the security on our hotspot. It needs to say "open", not "wpa" or "personal". This fix will however leave your network vulnerable. we just turned our security back on after downloading. Good Luck.
