The new battery I inserted in the ryobi 18v charger has the yellow and green light on and battery will not charge, other batteries that I have charge just fine?? What needs to be done to rectify this problem

I have somewhat similar problem but none of the batteries hold the charge for long. Warranty expired in any case.
My problem is it seems like when I run a battery down put another one in and as it charge that one that I just took out of it and it will be hot so I have to let it sit before I can use it again which is something I don't like to do when I'm in the middle of a job. I have a 40-volt lithium battery that it was stored for the winter and never charged again I took it back to have it swapped out and they wouldn't let me swap it out without calling Ryobi and still blinks green all four lights blinks two times each. I attempted to boost it with a trickle charge so the charger would pick it up never worked
Heat generated during a charging session suggests a bad battery in the pack...likely shorted...it can be fixed by replacing the bad cell, but is not easy for the rookie.
