backup first, ok.? if not tool late, google how to backup your hDD
then power on
and hammer the F11 key,
this activates the HP recovery, pick repair startup files.
if that fails, buy a new HDD or SSD (better)
and reload the software, per HP instructing

Remove and reset (replug in) your HDD if that doesn't work replace the hard drive

yea it can be installed on these computers, you have to go into your bios and disable sata support, then delete and fromat the partion and then insert your xp disk and voila... this computer i'm posting from is a compaq with the celeron m575 that i installed xp on...

Go to the web site of what ever PC you have ( Dell, HP or what ever the PC is ). At the web site you should find section that says drivers and support, or something like that. It will have you select your make and model. You should find the correct drivers there.

Check the boot processes in the from your systems control panel and look for unnecessary boot time services. Such as an anti virus boot scan and similar processes. Sometimes it is caused by the network card driver. Start your computer in safe mode and select the selective start up option and disable each service one by one (non windows) to find out which one is slowing down your boot process. It usually due to a boot scan, a faulty driver, or an invalid or corrupt registry entry. I highly doubt that you are infected with a virus and it is due one of the issues listed above.
