The following link explains how to wire an electric dryer:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion
This explains BOTH the three-prong and four-prong plug configurations, wire color codes, and the voltage readings. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

Hello, If your igniter is glowing does not mean it's good, Take a look at it while it is glowing..Is it orange in color..Uneven glow? then it's bad...the igniter needs to be pulling 3.5 amps in order for a) the gas valve to open B) gas to ignite once gas valve opens. The glow should be a brillient yellow that you find hard to look at. If the igniter is bad the only other possibilty is the flame sensor. It is the gadget hooked to the side of the tube where the flame is. Using an ohms meter disconnect the 2 wires from the terminals and check for condinuity..If you have no reading (condinuity) you should replace it. Good Luck!!! If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Mike

The problem sounds like the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. These are very inexpensive and easy to fix. It could be several other things thermal fuse, thermal cut out, hi limit thermostat, heat sensor,or ignitor. All of these parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

Hi,
Could be a coil...but I have learned that it usually is the ignitor...
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating
the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows
sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different
things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
check out this electric no heat tip...
