My Toshiba vendor indicates that this is a "feature" and NOT a bug (we haven't signed, so incentive to find an explanation is high). He says that the beeping is to alert you that you've left something on the glass or the document feeder. Likely, this would happen if a sensor is going bad. Look for the toll-free number on the sticker, and the Unit code, call them and tell them to send a tech to fix your bad sensor, no need to bother IT, we usually have bigger fish to fry, especially in this economy.
