SOURCE: fwt449gfs2 washes, empties some water, does not spin, knob does not advance

There are two possible causes of the machine not going into the spin.

The first is an obstruction in the drain pump. This can be a partial block caused by a loose coin or bobby pin. The only way to clear the obstruction is to remove the lower panel at the front by removing the 2 screws at the lower edge. This will allow the front panel to drop down. You will need to unplug the machine for the naex part.

Now this will get a little messy... Be sure to have a lot of towels nearby to sop up the water. On the lower right hand side there is a pump with a black bellows attached which is also attached to the bottom of the tub. This black hose is clamped to the front of the pump if you unclamp the hose the remaining water in the system will spill out and you will have to reach inside the bellows and remove whatever obstruction is inside. some models will have a trap inside which may have to be removed from the top of the hose assembly by unscrewing the clamp on the bottom of the tub.

The hose will have to be reattached in teh reverse manner. It can be quite tricky to do so... Once the machine is back together you can test it by running a straight spin cycle, it should go into the full spin with no water in the system.

The other cause could be a faulty timer which may need to be replaced.

Electrolux washer error code E42

The E42 error indicates a problem with the door lock mechanism. If the door was closed, did you hear the lock attempt to engage? If you heard the lock, check the door strike. If the strike is good, replace the door lock. If the lock didn't attempt to engage, check the wiring between the door lock and the control board. If the wiring is well seated and the wires have continuity, replace the door lock. If the replacement lock doesn't solve the problem, then replace the main control board. (You should find a diagram with the wiring inside the unit near the control board.) If you have broken wires in the wiring harness, replace the wiring.

Please add a comment with the model of your washer if you want me to point you to any parts/price lists.

I hope this helps.

I cant get child lock off zanussi 6kg 1200 and cant find the manual please help

Zanussi has several washer models with 6 KG capacity 1200 RPM spin speed specifications. You need the model number to find the manual here: http://www.zanussi.co.uk/support/manuals/ . The model number for a front load washer is inside the door on the lower right of the opening.

For the ZWG7120P, you need to press and hold both the Temperature and the Spin buttons for 6 seconds to toggle the lock on or off. (This time is approximate.) These are the two buttons closest to the program selector dial. There is a small padlock icon in a curved line below and between the buttons. The direct link to the manual for this model in English is http://www.electrolux-ui.com//DocumentDownLoad.aspx?DocURL=2010\132\948930EN.pdf .

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with your washer model if the above child lock directions do not work on your machine.

All cycles are working except the spin cycle. I have visually inspected the wiring connections and motor and dont see any obvious issues. There are no error codes and the LED lights seem to be functioning...

Because of the high spin speeds of front load washers, the doors are equipped with a latch and lock mechanism to prevent the door from being opened during the washers operation. These locks will often be actuated by a solenoid or wax motor to ensure they remain latched during the wash cycle. This model uses a two stage lock that latches the door when the load starts, and then when it is time to spin, the second lock engages to ensure the door is properly secured prior to beginning the spin. When this second lock engages, it also closes a set of switch contacts (the auxiliary door switch) telling the control board the door is closed and locked. If for some reason this switch is not closed, the washer will tumble during what would normally be the spin cycle until the entire cycle is complete.

Model fwt645rhso will agitate but won't drain out, on spin cycle washer spins one way, stops goes back the other way, but water will not drain out. Does not rapidly spin on final cycle. Any...

There's an auxiliary switch in the door lock.switch assembly that is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to the spin cycle. The machine will NEVER advance to the spin cycle unless the auxiliary switch is activated as a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during a high-speed spin cycle that may result in physical injury. The drum tumbles back and forth while the machine control checks the auxiliary if activated but since it's not, the control will not command the motor speed control to spin the drum at high speed. These symptoms may indicate a faulty door lock/switch assembly and may need replacement. Click on the links below for the detailed troubleshooting instructions and replacement of the door lock/switch assembly.

My Frigidaire front load washer doesn't spin, it turns during the wash cycle, doesn't show an error code, but doesn't spin the load at all, it is model CLTF2940ES0. Is it something simplet to fix?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on what you've described,...you likely need a door lock/switch assembly. The closest I found to your model is actually CLTF2940ES0.

The door latch is likely the single most common fault (which prevent's any spin, and consequently drenching wet clothing at the end of the cycle) with the frigidaire/electrolux built washer's, aside from pump's being obstructed.

I think it fool's many people because the lock indicates it is energized on the panel, however the built in "monitor" switch inside the assembly fail's. I do see a lot of these particular machine's...unfortunately.

You should be able to purchase one at most local brick
