When I am playing either the Blu-Ray or the DVR -- so some type of playback -- my new 52'' Sony Bravia LCD screen pulses, or skips, as though a tiny segment of video (1/10 second, or 1/4 second) is missing. This happens every few seconds and is very distracting. Audio is consistent. What could cause this? I thought it was the DVR until it happened with the Blu-Ray (new), too. The picture occasionally compresses to just the left half of the screen, too, but changing channels or input and changing back corrects this (and it rarely happens). I am fearing a lemon.

The problem is your cable box. I know you said you replaced it, but I work on TV's everyday and, sorry to say this but cable box HDMI outputs have serious issues, like no or intermittent sound and video. I have seen customers exchange their cable boxes 5 and 6 times and still have the problem. Your best bet is to use the component outputs of your cable box, visually you will not see a picture difference between component and HDMI when using a cable box. Your other solution is to get satellite; I have NEVER seen an HDMI issue with a satellite box

the only thing that i can think of is that the cables and connections are bad but if that is not the case it may be the internal components of the tv. my guess is that the tv was dropped or jumbled around while transported and what happened was internal components were broken or just mixed up so go to the retailer and get a refund or a new tv. hope this helps

Click on the display button (upper left corner) as a short term fix - it will turn it off immediately - not sure of how to permanently solve this though.

Contact Sony. There is a software update for this. Go to www.Sony.com for contact information.

I have the same problem with any device connected to the HDMI, both sky and PS3 - I did find some comments that this was an issue with this set but I couldn't get anywhere with sony when I tried.
