This can work in 70% but notice that sometime it dont so be aware Switch off yoyr phone then do this press Volume Up + Home + Power button, until you see Samsung logo. Release held keys when the Samsung logo appears on the screen. Then select from menu "wipe data / factory reset" using Volume buttons to navigate and Power button to confirm

SOURCE: i have forgotton my lock
lock screen pattern and gmail password is not related. but if you forgot the lock pattern u can reset or disable it with gmail id and password. If you draw the incorrect pattern five times you will get a message press OK. u can see a new button on screen below the pattern named "forgot pattern?". Touch this button to reset or remove the pattern with gmail id and password.
