SOURCE: Problems with the battery and the flash on my canon powershot A530

Know this is an old post but... Some of The Canon Powershot A530 and A540 cameras are subject to an advisory recall. Seems that a small spring on the battery compartment door can short out the batteries. Suspect this of yours, in that you mentioned that your batteries weren't lasting long. If your camera is on the list, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. SOURCE: CANON POWERSHOT A530 LOW BATTERY READING

We had the same problem and it was so very frustrating. We sent the Camera back for assesment and repair only to be told there was nothing wrong with it. The solution was so simple we felt like real dummies.

All you have to do is use Energizer Lithium Batteries, since we started using them we have not had a problem with Batteries going flat or that annoying Battery indicator flashing.

SOURCE: lens error, restart camera canon powershot

The best thing to do is to first try restarting the camera. Do not push or pull on the lens as this will often cause other issues. Do not blow air in the lens as this generally moves any dirt or dust to the back and it sits on your imaging sensor, you'll end up with poor photos after that. The best thing to do is to have it serviced so it is fixed correctly and working the way it should be. The site that is great for the Powershot Models is: www.CamerasAndParts.com They only specialize in these Powershots and they have your exact lens error problem right on the site. Try them for help. They tend to be the best deal plus they're service is wonderful. You'll pay $89 for the repair, all of the service for that model and the return shipping back to you included with them. They'd be the place for help with this one, best of luck.

SOURCE: my card says it is locked on my canon powershot

When this problem occur you need to set the memory card unlock or not protected. Remove the memory card from camera and you can see a small button in the memory card, so you need to slide that to set the memory card unlock or not protected.

Problems after repairing a Lens-error (E18) on a PowerShot A530

I think that the lens system is in different groups, which move independently based on a cam system. (This is based on watching the lens move while running the zoom lever.) I would suspect that your "cam timing" is not set quite right. You can either try to correct it by trial-and-error, making only small changes at a time, or send it in for factory calibration.

Lens problems

Try opening your camera, check the lens gear if its teeth are complete. If so, check if something stucks on it. Its much better to bring your camera to an authorized service center to re timing your lens track... ^_^

Problem with Canon A530 Lens

I had this happen to a camera of mine a while ago, and I don't think there is a lot you can do except call Canon to see if they'll fix it or get a new camera, but before you do that, you could have a go at taking the whole camera apart and checking out how the lens works to try and see what's going on. Some gears are probably out of place. If you're lucky, you might be able to put them back.
