All the pictures are blurry the auto focus isn't working

You may have put the camera on manual focus. Two ways to do that.
1. There is a switch on the lens which allows you to select auto or manual focus. Be sure the switch is set on A or A/M. If it's on M, you are on manual focus.

2. In you menus, there might be a mode which is manual focus. Look in your manual index under Focus, manual. There might be a setting in the Focus Mode menu.

You can also try resetting your camera. This will put most things back to factory default mode, including the focus mode.

When playing around with controls, go step by step through the manual and try things out. Be sure to set the control you were playing with back to default unless you really understand that setting.

DMC-FZ7 problems

Have you tried switching the mode dial to a flower icon?

The mode with the flower icon is the macro mode, you can shoot up to 5 cm from the subject.

Also, if you are very close to the subject, then the auto-focus may not function properly if the targeting area is not centered on the subject.

When I shoot macro with my FZ7K, I use manual focus, the auto-focus generally has trouble focusing up close.

I would suggest trying manual focus.

How to use auto timer

1. Turn on the camera in picture taking mode.

2. Now press the left arrow button.

3. Select the timer duration with the up and down arrow buttons, then press MENU SET.

4. Aim the camera, focus and press the shutter button. You now will have either 10 seconds or 2 seconds before the camera takes the picture.

Photoes are not sharp

Hi, I have never had focus problems with my FX7. I suggest you set the AF mode to 1-area-focusing. This mode is quicker than the 9-area-focusing. To eliminate any possibility that the blurry photos are caused by camera shake, I also suggest placing the camera on a tripod (or setting it down on a flat surface) and using the self-timer to release the shutter. At this point you can also turn off the image stabiliser. A well lit outdoor subject is probably preferable for this test, as low contrast scenes sometimes cause the auto focus problems. If the photos under these conditions are still blurry, then you probably have a defective autofocus. Otherwise...

Focus modes

There are four focus modes: S-AF (Single auto focus), C-AF (Continuous auto focus), MF (Manual Focus), and S-AF/MF (Simultaneous mode). (SINGLE Auto Focus): Focusing is performed once when the shutter button is pressed halfway. C-AF (CONTINUOUS Auto Focus): The camera repeats focusing while the shutter button is pressed halfway. (MANUAL FOCUS): The function allows you to manually focus on any subject while looking through the viewfinder. SIMULTANEOUS USE of S-AF mode and MF mode: You can fine-adjust focus manually by turning the focus ring after AF is performed in the S-AF mode.
